A Conversation with Donna Hatch, Author of COURTING THE COUNTESS (with a giveaway!)

On Tour with Prism Book Tours.

Welcome, Donna! What 5 things should readers know about you?

  1. I love chocolate.
  2. I am claustrophobic.
  3. My idea of a good time is dressing up and having a tea party. Or staying home watching old movies.
  4. In addition to writing, I also love to sing, ballroom dance, and play the harp.
  5. I am a romantic through and through.

What a great variety! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Where did the inspiration for this book come from?

Since an arranged marriage is one of my favorite themes, I brainstormed how I could use that theme in fresh new way. I decided that getting married to prevent a duel fit the bill. The characters evolved as I wrote, including several details that surprised me.

I love seeing troupes used in new and different ways! Sounds great!
How long have you been writing, and what (or who) inspired you to start?

When I was eight I started writing, and I’ve been writing ever since. When I was in eighth grade, an English teacher encouraged me to think big and to consider getting my stories published. Up until then, the thought had never crossed my mind because I simply wrote for my own enjoyment. A high school creative writing teacher helped foster that dream.

I love to hear that teachers helped along writing careers. Awesome!

What are you working on right now? What can readers look for from you in the next year?

I am juggling several stories right now; book two of Courting the Countess, book five of the Rogue Hearts series, book two of Songs of the Heart series, and I am trying to brainstorm a novella for another Timeless Regency Romance which will be out next spring.

Fantastic! Can’t wait.

What are you reading right now, and what are your thoughts about it so far?

Unfortunately, I am in between books right now but I just got a new book I’m super excited to read by Sarah M. Eden called The Sheriffs of Savage Wells. I love her books—they are rich in witty banter and carefully researched for historical accuracy.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll have to add her to my never-ending TBR…

If you had to “sell” your book in a single Tweet, what would you say?

Jilted lovers, stolen jewels, and crime rings—who said love is easy?

Perfect! Thanks so much, Donna!

Keep reading to find out more about Donna and her latest book, COURTING THE COUNTESS.

When charming rake Tristan Barrett sweeps Lady Elizabeth off her feet, stealing both her heart and a kiss in a secluded garden, her brother challenges Tristan to a duel. The only way to save her brother and Tristan from harm—not to mention preserve her reputation—is to get married. But her father, the Duke of Pemberton, refuses to allow his daughter to marry anyone but a titled lord. The duke demands that Elizabeth marry Tristan’s older brother, Richard, the Earl of Averston. Now Elizabeth must give up Tristan to marry a man who despises her, a man who loves another, a man she’ll never love.

Richard fears Elizabeth is as untrustworthy as his mother, who ran off with another man. However, to protect his brother from a duel and their family name from further scandal, he agrees to the wedding, certain his new bride will betray him. Yet when Elizabeth turns his house upside down and worms her way into his reluctant heart, Richard suspects he can’t live without his new countess. Will she stay with him or is it too little, too late?
