A Conversation with Michele Summers, Author of SWEET SOUTHERN BAD BOY (with a giveaway!)

Welcome, Michelle! What 5 things should readers know about you?

  1. Kind of OCD about a lot of things: for instance, kitchen has to be clean or I can’t go to bed. My kids refer to me as the cleaning Nazi.
  2. I have 6 sisters and 2 brothers and I’m third to the youngest.
  3. I know all the words to Bruce Springsteen’s Rosalita, yeah, the Boss rocks.
  4. I’m obsessed with notebooks and pens, even though I rarely use them since most of my work is done on the computer.
  5. I’ve never seen Star Wars or any of its sequels. Couldn’t pick Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker out of a line-up.

OMG, I am so with you on #4! I love notebooks and pens! And yeah, almost everything I do is digital. Makes no sense, but true.

Where did the inspiration for this book come from?

I think it first started with the kids, because I’d been dealing a lot with my own active kids and my sister’s five boys. And I thought it’d be funny to see how two people with no children get thrown together taking care of someone else’s kids and how they cope.

And…somehow I want to read it even more now! Awesome 🙂

What are you working on right now?

I’m working on a fun series set in Miami where I lived for over 20 years. It’s centered around three brothers, all athletes in different stages of their careers and how they find love in women who are basically their complete opposites. The first will hopefully be released summer of 2017.

Sounds awesome—can’t wait!

What authors and/or books have inspired you?

Linda Howard and her early works inspired me because she was the first contemporary author I read.

Nice!

What are you currently reading? What are your thoughts about it so far?

Anne Tyler’s A Spool of Blue Thread. Very typical Anne Tyler that I love. She’s great at turning funny family situations into something much deeper and more meaningful.

Hmmm…haven’t read that yet. I’ll have to check it out!

Should Katie tell him the truth, or get her foot in the door?

SHE’S GOT EVERYTHING HE NEEDS

Bestselling author Vance Kerner doesn’t just have writer’s block—he’s been run ragged ever since he was saddled with taking care of his brother’s three kids, an adopted kitten, and a runaway mutt. The last thing he needs is a teen drama defiling his property, but with fascinating and unconventional Katie underfoot charming the entire Kerner household, Vance is finding it harder and harder to say no.
