A Date By Mistake Novella

A hot playboy who has left a string of hearts in his wake can’t forget the cellist who haunted his fantasies. Now it is his turn to use his power of persuasion to prove he’s the only man to keep her satisfied.

Review:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again–it’s hard to make a convincing HEA in a novella without using the “couple with a past” troupe. When done well, the “we have a complicated past” storyline can really shine in a novella–and such is the case with Rosemary Clement-Moore’s latest, Passionate Persuasion.

Kiara Fredericks and Alex Drake met in college–he was a senior frat boy in charge of “keg procurement”, she was a music major fresh off the Kansas farm. They had sparks. Lots of them. Until one day Alex gave Kiara the “we’re better off as friends” speech (right before the winter formal, the rat), leaving her heartbroken.

Fast forward eight years. They’re both older and wiser, and fate–and a bit of subterfuge–conspire to bring them back together again. Kiara’s understandably angry with him, and resistant (or at least she tries really, really hard to be) if his charms. Alex is persistent, though, and a series of encounters that are somehow both steamy and amusing ensues.

Passionate Persuasion  is a quick, yet satisfying, read. The characters are believable and sympathetic, and Alex is very persuasive. And passionate. 😉 Rosemary Clement-Moore wrote a nice, tight story here–the space offered by a novella is definitely put to brilliant use. I had a lot of fun with this one, and definitely recommend it.

About Rosemary:

I’ve been writing stories all my life, even when I should have been doing other things, like studying Algebra. My first paying job was as Chuck E. Cheese. I worked in theatre for years, and now I’m writing full time, which is my dream job, because I get to work in my pajamas and take a break every afternoon to play Guitar Hero.
