About Confessions of a Former Puck Bunny:

Confession #1: I used to be a puck bunny, but after a hockey player broke my heart, I gave up all things hockey. Now I’m just focused on finding a way to pass my math class so I can graduate college.

Confession #2: Ryder “Ox” Maddox’s deep, sexy voice sends fuzzy tingles through my entire body, and I’m powerless to stop it. Which is a big problem since the hot, surprisingly funny hockey player is my new math tutor.

Confession #3: I can’t stop thinking about how ripped Ryder is from all his hockey training, and how fun it’d be to cross lines with him.

Confession #4: I kissed a hockey player and I liked it.

Confession #5: If I’m not careful, I might relapse and fall for Ryder, and then I’ll be totally pucked.

Review:

OMG, I loved, loved, loved this book! Lindsay is totally my fictional sister-from-another-mister. We’re like twins with the editing, you can’t turn that stuff off and give us HEAs forever and math? Ugh! And Ryder? Don’t even get me started on that guy 🙂 Between his refusal to give up on Lindsay no matter how prickly she was or how many walls she threw up to his math whispering abilities to his excellent making-up-for-being-an-a-hole grand gesture (the placement of that paintball gun had me flinching in sympathy), the fact that he is a hockey player too is like mile-high icing piled on the best cake ever.

Because, hockey.

Although I’m sad that this is apparently the last book in the series (but why? There are other players on the team….Daniel could use an HEA, for example, subtle hint… ;)) I have to admit that Lindsay and Ryder struck exactly the right final note. Though you could absolutely read Confessions of a Former Puck Bunny as a standalone, do yourself a real favor and read the other three books too because these four couples are amazing. They’re great when they’re secondary characters meddling into their friends’ relationships, but they’re even better when they’re center stage in their own stories.

Plus…did I mention hockey?

Need I say more?

Every thought turned to how strong he was. How much I’d like to see all those muscles without a shirt in the way.

Once he’d counted off twenty-five, he stood and, as if he’d been reading my mind, peeled off his shirt.

I stared. Not subtly, either. Nope, totally unabashed, taking in every dip and groove of his sweat-glistened skin.

“Since we’re playing dirty,” he said, shooting his wadded shirt over to his bag. He grabbed my hand. “Last machine. I’m not sure you can handle it, though.”

“I’m not sure you can handle it.” As far as comebacks went, not my best, but I mentioned he was shirtless and crazy ripped, right?

He sat down on the leg machine, the one where the seat reclined at a forty-five-degree angle, and then he lifted the weighted bar that rested at shin-height with his legs.

He reached for my hand, and since I’d already talked trash, I took it, even though I was starting to think I wouldn’t be able to handle it. He pulled me toward him, and I had no choice but to run my shins into the weights or to straddle the machine. I chose straddling, but kept space between us like I had earlier.

My heart hammered against my rib cage, beating in time with his leg lifts, the steady clink of the weights filling the air. Ryder’s eyes remained locked on mine, and energy crackled in the air between us. He sat up enough to run his hands up my thighs.

A dart of heat shot through my core, and my breath lodged in my throat. Ryder’s fingertips skimmed the skin between my pants and shirt and desire danced across my nerve endings. Still our eyes remained fixed on each other, and I wasn’t sure I was taking in oxygen anymore.

A distant part of me whispered that if I didn’t stop this…whatever we were doing, I’d be in trouble. But fighting my attraction to him was exhausting and the ache that’d formed between my thighs grew more persistent, drowning out silly things like common sense.

I leaned over like I had before, my hands braced on either side of him. He lifted the weights again, and then he brushed his lips against mine. Just a quick slide of soft lips.

My throat went completely dry. I pressed my palm flat against his stomach and slowly slid it up, feeling his firm chest and the hammering of his heart, which echoed mine.

Ryder gripped my hips and pulled me down to sit on his lap, eradicating the space between us. He lifted the weights with his legs a few more times, each rep bumping me tighter to him. Friction was definitely happening, and with each lift, it became clearer and clearer how much it was affecting him as well.

The tiniest whimper escaped my lips and he raised an eyebrow that added even more smugness to the curve of his tempting mouth.

Two could play dirty. So I sank farther into his lap and he groaned.

Of course, all it did was give me dirty thoughts and turn me on that much more.

He lifted his legs two more times, the movement shaky. He slowly ran his fingertips up my arm, across my collarbone, up my neck, and then he reached back and tugged my hair free of its ponytail.

He drove his hand into my hair, cupped the back of my head, and for one torturous moment, time stopped, both of us suspended right there on edge of crossing lines.

New Release Review! OPERATION PROM DATE by Cindi Madsen (Tactics in Flirting #1)

Operation Prom Date
Tactics in Flirting #1
by Cindi Madsen

Synopsis:

Kate ships tons of fictional couples, but IRL her OTP is her and Mick, the hot quarterback she’s crushed on since, like, forever. With only one semester left of senior year, it’s now or never if she wants to land him in time for prom. Since she’s flirtationally challenged, she enlists Cooper Callihan, the guy who turned popular seemingly overnight but who used to be a good friend.

Cooper lives and breathes rowing, but his partner just broke his wrist. When he remembers Kate’s good with a set of oars, he strikes a deal: help him train, and he’ll make sure her crush notices her. Only he didn’t know how addicting spending time with her would be. Or how the more successful the Operation is, the more jealousy he experiences.

The mission has been set. The troops have their marching orders. But what if the target is the wrong guy all along?

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains stargazing, accidental swimming, and poker swindling. This kissing practice will melt your ereader…and give you a new couple to ship.

Review:

So much swoony, feel-good adorableness here!

Operation Prom Date is everything that is good about YA romances–a slightly geeky, fairly awkward heroine; a seriously nice (and ripped! bonus…) hero; a friends-to-something more pairing–throw in the perfect prom dress and a bearded dragon, and I’m not sure what else you could possibly want 🙂

Often the romantic-tension-could-be-fixed-with-a-conversation-type plots drive me crazy, but here it actually worked. Kate and Cooper were both trying to stick to the plan (he helps her land her dream prom date, she helps him train for the rowing contest while his regular partner is unable to, both are super-adorable as they use military terms to refer to their mission a la what Kate used to do with her dad) and every time one of them started to get other ideas, Ms. Madsen gave them a perfectly reasonable reason for them to deny it. Even when I was thinking Gah! You’re each other’s OTP! Wake up already! and trying to come up with ship names that didn’t just sound like their actual names (fortunately, Cooper did a much better job with that than I did) I still loved every minute that I spent with these two.

And then the ending? Made every second of semi-frustration totally worth it.

Anxiously awaiting book #2!

New Release Review and Giveaway! 12 STEPS TO MR. RIGHT by Cindi Madsen

12 Steps to Mr. Right Cover
12 Steps to Mr. Right
by Cindi Madsen
Publication Date: September 26, 2016
Genres: Adult, Entangled: Contemporary Select, Romance

Synopsis:
12 steps to finding Mr. Right, composed by dating coach extraordinaire Savannah Gamble:
  1. Admit to being powerless over your attraction to the wrong type of guy. (Like Lincoln Wells, who broke your heart after an unforgettable one-night stand.)
  2. Believe Mr. Right is out there.
  3. Take inventory of past mistakes. (See step #1.)
  4. Make a list of qualities you want in a man. (Avoid charming baseball players/reason you made these rules in the first place)
  5. Take charge of your own life.
  6. Learn to love yourself.
  7. Sort the hookup guys from the relationship guys. (Avoid a painful brushoff after an amazing night together.)
  8. Never, ever settle. (Even if the chemistry is off-the-charts.)
  9. Don’t believe you can change a guy. (Once a commitment-phobe, always a commitment-phobe)
  10. Communicate your needs.
  11. Open your heart & love fully. (Still working on this one…)
  12. Don’t ever, ever stray from the steps.

Review:

The romance in this one is sloooow moving, and it seems a little strange now to read an adult romance with a single POV (I want to know how he’s feeling, and I want to know NOW, darn it!;)) but ohmygoodness, the last 10% of this one made up for every bit before it when I didn’t get what was up with Linc or wanted to tell Savannah what she could do with her rules.

So. Good. There were tears. More than one batch. I might have even crossed over into sloppy crying, if I hadn’t been in a public restaurant and trying really, really hard not to embarrass my poor unsuspecting teenaged son.

Don’t get me wrong–I didn’t spend the first 90% in perpetual aggravation, and I really did enjoy Savannah’s voice from the first page to the last. I love her business (why, oh why isn’t it real and why isn’t she operating right here in my town?) and what she does for women, and her rules really do make a lot of sense. (#12 is the one that started the tearfest, BTW. It sounds good on the first page, but later on…? Sigh.) But we wait an awfully long time to find out exactly how her and Linc’s first time really went, and even longer to find out what the heck he was thinking then and since. There’s all kinds of good stuff in between about holding out for what you deserve, and friends and family goodness (Ivy and Jackson! Tell me they’re getting a book, please!) and learning to truly know and trust yourself–all good things. But it was frustrating to have Savannah and Linc moving sooo slowly and feel like the truth was out there, but just out of reach.

But that last 10%? Was killer.

Loved.

Every.

Page.

Except then I wasn’t ready to let go…

(So…Ivy and Jackson, yes? Soon?)

And for the record, I totally agree with Savannah. Baseball games are way too long, and their pants are totally like Regency-era silk breeches. I can’t believe I’ve never noticed before!

Get Back-to-School Ready with this YA Retellings Blog Blast!

Recently, we asked several Entangled TEEN  authors of  YA Retellings the following question, “What book or story would you like to see updated for the young adult market?” and where possible, we’ve shared their responses below with you!

4

Gaby Triana’s Wake the Hollow – YA Retelling of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”:

Forget the ghosts, Mica. It’s real, live people you should fear.

Tragedy has brought Micaela Burgos back to her hometown of Sleepy Hollow. It’s been six years since she chose to live with her father in Miami instead of her eccentric mother. And now her mother is dead.

This town will suck you in and not let go.

Sleepy Hollow may be famous for its fabled headless horseman, but the town is real. So are its prejudices and hatred, targeting Mica’s family as outsiders. But ghostly voices carry on the wind, whispering that her mother’s death was based on hate…not an accident at all. With the help of two very different guys—who pull at her heart in very different ways—Micaela must awaken the hidden secret of Sleepy Hollow…before she meets her mother’s fate.

Find the answers.

Unless, of course, the answers find you first.

Gaby’s Answer to What YA Retelling She’d Like to See in 100 Words or Less:

As a huge fan of haunted house stories, I’d love to see a retelling of the Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson. First published in 1959, this was and still is, one of the finest examples of psychological terror ever known in the horror genre, and because I love stories that scare you with what’s not there rather than what is, I would love to see this interpreted for a teen audience. Are we caught up in Eleanor’s mind, or is a real poltergeist haunting her? “Whatever walked there, walked alone.” Yeah, definitely this one.

Vivi Barnes, author of Olivia Twisted, which is a YA Retelling of Oliver Twist:

Tossed from foster home to foster home, Olivia’s seen a lot in her sixteen years. She’s hardened, sure, though mostly just wants to fly under the radar until graduation. But her natural ability with computers catches the eye of Z, a mysterious guy at her new school. Soon, Z has brought Liv into his team of hacker elite―break into a few bank accounts, and voila, he drives a motorcycle. Follow his lead, and Olivia might even be able to escape from her oppressive foster parents. As Olivia and Z grow closer, though, so does the watchful eye of Bill Sykes, Z’s boss. And he’s got bigger plans for Liv…

Thanks to Z, Olivia’s about to get twisted.

Olivia Decoded:

This isn’t my Jack, who once looked at me like I was his world. The guy who’s occupied the better part of my mind for eight months.

This is Z, criminal hacker with a twisted agenda and an arsenal full of anger.

I’ve spent the past year trying to get my life on track. New school. New friends. New attitude. But old flames die hard, and one look at Jack—the hacker who enlisted me into his life and his hacking ring, stole my heart, and then left me—and every memory, every moment, every feeling comes rushing back. But Jack’s not the only one who’s resurfaced in my life. And if I can’t break through Z’s defenses and reach the old Jack, someone will get hurt…or worse.

Vivi’s Answer to What YA Retelling She’d Like to See in 100 Words or Less:

I first saw the movie To Kill A Mockingbird when I was a teenager, and I believe it played a large part in opening my eyes to the realities and consequences of racism. Considering the state of the world today, I would love to see the story retold as a young adult novel with a Muslim-American Tom Robinson. I think capturing the attention of young adults through literature is one of the most effective ways we can change the world for the better.

2Cindi Madsen’s All the Broken Pieces – YA Retelling of Frankenstein:

What if your life wasn’t your own?

Liv comes out of a coma with no memory of her past and two distinct, warring voices inside her head. Nothing, not even her reflection, seems familiar. As she stumbles through her junior year, the voices get louder, insisting she please the popular group while simultaneously despising them. But when Liv starts hanging around with Spencer, whose own mysterious past also has him on the fringe, life feels complete for the first time in, well, as long as she can remember.

Liv knows the details of the car accident that put her in the coma, but as the voices invade her dreams, and her dreams start feeling like memories, she and Spencer seek out answers. Yet the deeper they dig, the less things make sense. Can Liv rebuild the pieces of her broken past, when it means questioning not just who she is, but what she is?

Cindi’s Answer to What YA Retelling She’d Like to See in 100 Words or Less:

Hmm. What retelling would I love to see? I’m a big fan of the classics, and twists on them. I’ll read just about any Pride & Prejudice retelling. Beauty and the Beast is also a favorite. But I’d love to see a modern retelling of The Count of Monte Cristo. I think that there could be a lot of possibilities and different ways to go, but I think one with a lot of tension and romance and kissing (my fave), would be amazing! And  I just found out Entangled Teen recently acquired a Count of Monte Cristo retelling called STING, by Cindy Wilson! *makes grabby hands*

Jenny Trout’s  Such Sweet Sorrow – YA Retelling of Romeo & Juliet and Hamlet:

Never was there a tale of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo…

But true love never dies. Though they’re parted by the veil between the world of mortals and the land of the dead, Romeo believes he can restore Juliet to life, but he’ll have to travel to the underworld with a thoroughly infuriating guide.

Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, may not have inherited his father’s crown, but the murdered king left his son a much more important responsibility—a portal to the Afterjord, where the souls of the dead reside. When the determined Romeo asks for help traversing the treacherous Afterjord, Hamlet sees an opportunity for adventure and the chance to avenge his father’s death.

In an underworld filled with leviathan monsters, ghoulish shades, fire giants, and fierce Valkyrie warriors, Hamlet and Romeo must battle their way through jealousy, despair, and their darkest fears to rescue the fair damsel. Yet finding Juliet is only the beginning, and the Afterjord doesn’t surrender souls without a price…

5

A.L. Davroe’s Nexis – YA Retelling of “Cinderella”:

In the domed city of Evanescence, appearance is everything. A Natural Born amongst genetically-altered Aristocrats, all Ella ever wanted was to be like everyone else. Augmented, sparkling, and perfect. Then…the crash. Devastated by her father’s death and struggling with her new physical limitations, Ella is terrified to learn she is not just alone, but little more than a prisoner.

Her only escape is to lose herself in Nexis, the hugely popular virtual reality game her father created. In Nexis she meets Guster, a senior player who guides Ella through the strange and compelling new world she now inhabits. He offers Ella guidance, friendship…and something more. Something that allows her to forget about the “real” world, and makes her feel whole again.

A.L.’s Answer to What YA Retelling She’d Like to See in 100 Words or Less:

I’m a huge fan of retellings of stories that are a little less well know.  Even better?  Gender swapped stories!  That’s a field rich for the harvest and I don’t know why we’re not all jumping on that boat.  Although, I hear Channing Tatum is going to be in a gender-swapped version of Splash.  That’s gonna be something to see…

6Kendra C. Highley’s  Finding Perfect – YA Retelling of Pygmalion in reverse:

This Entangled Teen Crush book contains swoony situations, adult language, and a perfectly imperfect hero with an eye for calculus and a heart of gold.

How far will you go for perfection?

For “Perfect Paige” Westfeld, today is “D” Day. As in, she just got one on her calculus test. With her dreams of Stanford, her reputation, and her parents’ expectations at stake, Paige needs to find a way to save face before everything she’s worked for goes up in flames.

Ben Franklin (yes, he’s related) is from the wrong side of town, with the wrong clothes and the wrong kind of life. He also knows an opportunity when he sees one, and he’ll be happy to tutor Paige—if she makes him into the kind of guy her best friend, the hottest girl in school, will date.

It’s the perfect arrangement. And Paige is determined not even the inconvenient—and utterly imperfect—attraction simmering between her and Ben will ruin it…

Kendra’s Answer to What YA Retelling She’d Like to See in 100 Words or Less:

I’d love the see Samson and Delilah told as an epic love story between two enemies, in a dystopian where magic is real (think An Ember in the Ashes). Samson, an eighteen-year- old with unusual strength has been helping his country’s army fight off an invasion by Delilah’s countrymen. Delilah, a renowned beauty, is blackmailed into starting a relationship with Samson to spy for her country in exchange from saving her sister from slavers. Against all odds, they fall in love, but Delilah still has to betray Samson. The twist would be that she frees him from his captors in the end, and they escape together.

It’s her temper, which blazes hot and always gets Kia into way too much trouble. And it’s the color of fire. Fires that Kia can start…just by thinking about them.

Emily McKay’s How Willa Got Her Groove Back – YA Retelling of  Pride & Prejudice:

This Entangled Teen Crush book contains an unbelievably hot bad boy, an unbelievably famous actress, and all the drama that comes with adding both to your family. Oh, and a forbidden flirtation with a soon-to-be stepbrother

When your life feels like a bad movie, rewrite the script.

When Willa Schofer’s father comes home from a business trip with an über-famous new fiancée, Willa’s senior year blows up in paparazzi-fueled flames. Overnight, she has a new house, a new car, and a new soon-to-be stepbrother—the unbelievably hot, unbelievably arrogant, Finn McCain. Thank god he’s constantly pushing her buttons, or she might do something irresponsible. Like fall for the jerk.

Just when Willa’s decided to avoid him for, oh, ever, Finn lands in the center of her senior project team. Seriously—how hard is it to shake a guy? At least her work on the project snagged the attention of the (second) hottest guy in school. He might only be into her because of her famous stepmom, and he’s not quite as exciting as a certain annoying housemate, but at least she’s allowed to crush on the guy.

Because crushing on your annoying stepbrother? So not cool.

Hope Springs is a tiny town in Wyoming where everyone knows everyone, one of the town committee members has CIA-type spy skills, despite her grandmotherly exterior, and events like picnic basket auctions are a yearly thing. There’s also a quilting group that has the beat on the happenings in town, whether it’s gossip or who’s in need of meals and extra support.

1. Keeping toddlers away from mud and water is harder than it sounds.

2. You have to spell things involving favorite foods and movies to avoid the meltdowns mentioning them without having them ready brings on.

Colorimetry – Coming Home for Cam Brantley

Cam Brantley was known as the Hope Spring’s bad boy, right along with his brother, and his dad never had that great of a reputation, either. As soon as Cam turned eighteen he escaped town and his rough childhood to serve in the Army. His main motivation for coming home is to put hectic missions and bad memories behind him and run a mountain lodge with his brother.

Becky on Books – Review

“The playful back-and-forth between him and Emma (especially their trash talking competitions–building furniture, fishing–that they participated in) was a whole lot of fun to read. And watching Zoey whip him into shape as a dad? Priceless.

This book practically had me smiling from start to finish.”

Q: What would you like my readers to know?

A: Well, I’d like to say hello-HI!-and that if you’re looking for a fun, flirty story that will hopefully make you laugh, those are the kind of books I love to write. Of course I think bookish people are some of the best people too. Finding people who can talk reading and books and getting lost in a story is always great.

“I liked how realistic their issues were and how they resolved them together. I loved watching Cam turn into a family man and how he adored his daughter. I loved how Emma was grounded but also aware she had a daughter to provide for. . . . I liked the chemistry between Cam and Emma. I sighed at the end.”

Royce has moved on from his memories of the beautiful Sadie. Now he’s focused solely on running Second Chance Ranch, where he rehabilitates troubled teens through ranch work. But when he needs a new employee and Sadie’s the only one to volunteer, he has no choice but to offer his old flame a job.

Whether riding a horse with the wind in her hair or mucking out the stalls, Sadie can still get Royce’s heart beating like no one else. But Nashville is her dream, and Royce can’t settle for second best.

Always the rebel in her ultra-conservative family, Quinn Sakata dreams of quitting her dad’s real-estate business and restoring the old Mountain Ridge Bed and Breakfast in her hometown of Hope Springs. So much for her “nice, conservative boys” rule.

But when their rivalry shifts into an unexpected zing of chemistry, Heath realizes he’s in deep trouble. Because it’s inevitable that emotions will get involved, and he needs to keep his eyes on the prize before they both get hurt.

Review:

Series favorite, definitely!

I loved that Cam was a plain ol’ Army guy–not a SEAL, not Special Ops, not a Marine–just Army. Nothing wrong with that–go Army! 🙂

Finally getting together with your high school crush, when done well, is one of my favorite storylines, and this one did not disappoint! It’s even better when the object of the crush was totally clueless back then, and is so freaking adorable when he finds out about it 🙂 The playful back-and-forth between him and Emma (especially their trash talking competitions–building furniture, fishing–that they participated in) was a whole lot of fun to read. And watching Zoey whip him into shape as a dad? Priceless.

This book practically had me smiling from start to finish.

Seeing Quinn / Heath and Sadie (and a little bit of Royce, but not as much as the others) was fun too–though if you haven’t read their stories yet ( Second Chance Ranch and Crazy for the Competition ), no worries–this one works fine as a standalone. Now we just need to find someone for Jay Torres, Cam’s old Army buddy. Fingers crossed that he gets the next book!

Can I move to Hope Springs? Surely Emma can design me a snug little cabin too…

Title: Anatomy of a Player
Author: Cindi Madsen
Age: New Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Entangled

Synopsis:

This bad boy is about to get played…

After getting her heart broken by a player again, Whitney Porter is done with men. She’s focusing on her future career and her first assignment at the college newspaper: Posing as a sports writer for an exposé on the extra perks jocks receive. But Hudson Decker, the bad boy of the hockey team, is about to test her resolve. To keep herself from breaking her no-sex rule with the temptingly tattooed athlete, she decides to use him for a side project: Anatomy of a Player, to help Whitney—and women everywhere—spot a player, learn what makes him tick, and how to avoid falling for one.

With his life spiraling out of control, Hudson Decker’s looking for a distraction. When his teammates bet him that he can’t land the gorgeous but prickly new reporter, he accepts the challenge, boasting he’ll have her in bed by the end of the semester. But Whitney is so much more than Hudson expected, and soon enough, he’s in too deep. The last thing he needs is another complication, but staying away isn’t an option. One thing’s for certain: this girl totally throws him off his game.

AddtoGoodreadsReview:

It’s official–I love this series. I didn’t honestly thinkAnatomy of a Player was going to be quite as good as book one in the series, Getting Lucky Number Seven –in fact, I read this one with a great deal of trepidation for much of the book, so afraid that things were going to spiral right out of control toward the end–but Ms. Madsen proved me wrong. Things could have gone so, so badly with Hudson and Whitney–they did get pretty grim, in fact, and rightly so, since both characters made some pretty iffy choices early on that just couldn’t possibly have ended well–but fortunately, what Whitney and Hudson did in the end that showed they were better people than that, and they saved their HEA.

Thank goodness. Because it might have killed me if they didn’t. If anyone deserved an HEA, it’s these two. They have great chemistry, and even though on the surface they seem to be completely different, they actually have a lot in common. Even where they are dissimilar, they each have what the other needs in order to be stronger. I adored how supportive they were of each other, even when they weren’t together during the book’s darkest moments. I also loved that Beck and Lyla (from book one) were in here as well, and helped the two of them to pull it together in the end.

Speaking of endings–be prepared for a fantastic finish, because Ms. Madsen knows how to write some pretty kick-butt grand gestures 🙂 Hudson’s is a doozy–hockey players for the win!

Though it is book two in the series, Anatomy should work fine as a standalone…but do yourself a favor and read them both; you won’t be sorry!

Now–can I put in my vote for Dane’s book next? 😉

I’m such a sucker for a fabulous kiss scene. When people ask what to do when they get stuck while writing, I tell them to add a kissing scene. They’re always my favorite scenes, especially when I’ve been waiting & hoping the characters will kiss. It’s one thing that keeps me flipping the pages.

I thought I’d share a snippet from one of Anatomy of a Player’s kissing scenes & then talk some of my favorite onscreen kissing scenes.

I dragged my fingers over the spot where material met skin, her sharp intake of breath spurring me on. I leaned closer, leaving that last inch between our lips open for a moment so she could pull away if she wanted. Instead she closed the gap, her soft lips igniting a fire within me when they touched mine.

I slid my hand behind her neck and drew her to me. Another wave of heat rolled through my veins as I parted her lips with my tongue, taking my first full taste. She moaned into my mouth, and then every thought I’d ever had flew out of my head and my baser instincts took over. I looped my arm around her waist and pulled her onto my lap, never breaking the kiss.

AOAPTeaser3

My five favorite kissing scenes:

  1. Crazy Stupid Love – When Emma Stone goes charging into the bar, hair wet from the rain, and kisses Ryan Gosling, I get butterflies! I love how he goes from shocked & hands off to very hands on, mid-kiss. When I need kissing scene inspiration, I go to Youtube & watch it again and again.
  2. North & South – Once Richard Armitage stepped onto the scene, I’d be a goner. Not to mention that delicious accent. But I love the push and pull, and how the romantic tension just builds & builds, until you’re screaming at the characters to kiss already! It makes the payoff that much more satisfying, and that kissing scene definitely stands out in my mind when I think about amazing cinematic kisses.
  3. The Notebook – Rain, check. Scruffy Ryan Gosling, check. Crazy romantic tension & the declaration that “It still isn’t over!”, double check!
  4. Veronica Mars – Until Veronica kissed Logan, I didn’t even know I wanted it to happen. But after that first amazing kiss, I found myself cheering for team LoVe, and hoping it’d happen more & more.
  5. New Girl – As a sucker for friends to lovers, I could see the romantic tension building between Nick and Jess. I love that the writers took their time with it, and when they finally kissed, it was so swoony & satisfying.

If anyone needs me, I’ll be watching kissing scenes on Youtube.

Me too, Cindi! Thanks so much for sharing 🙂
