New Release and Giveaway! HIS FAKE ALIEN FIANCEE by Patricia Eimer (Out of this World #2)

His Fake Alien Fiancee
by Patricia Eimer
Out of this World #2
Publication Date: February 6, 2017
Genres: Adult, Entangled: Select Otherworld, Standalone, Sci-Fi, Romance, Funny, Fake Relationship

Synopsis:

Princess Perripraxis not only has to find a fiancé—and fast—she’s got to find one who doesn’t mind that her “no makeup” face has green and purple scales. Otherwise, Daddy Dearest has plans that don’t include Perri’s compliance. Candidate Number One: Her sexy human best friend, Brandt.

Bartender Brandt Turner didn’t need all those years in the army to teach him never to leave a man behind. Or an alien princess in need of a pretend fiancé. If she needs someone to play the lovesick fool to convince her dad to let her stay on Earth, well then, he’ll let the world think Cupid finally took him out.

But Perri’s father has no intention of playing nice—and he’s not above cruel and unusual alien torture to make things go his way. But Brandt is willing to complete the mission…however far he has to go.

Excerpt:

He lifted his head slightly and nudged hers back with his cheek, intending to kiss her forehead. To be tender. To be a friend.

But her lips were there and they looked like strawberries against her green skin and he knew even as her eyes widened and connected with his that this was a bad idea.

He brought his lips down on top of hers and he found that he didn’t care. Didn’t care that she was the princess of a galactic empire. That his best friend was in love with her sister. That she was green. That they were friends. That he’d promised himself he wasn’t going to get involved with someone he actually cared about.

Didn’t even care that the taste of her lips against his made him feel like he was falling off a cliff and into a serious pile of shit.

They both shifted, moving so they were facing, and he brought his hands up to cradle her face with his left while he wrapped his right around her waist, hoisting her off her own stool and into his lap.

She had her fingers entwined in his hair and was kissing him like he was her only source of air.

The tip of her tongue licked against his mouth, and he began to kiss back, chasing her into her own mouth. He tightened his grip on her, pressing their chests together, and he fought the urge to shift his hips into her, to maneuver them onto the top of his bar.

They were friends and they’d had too much to drink and she was upset and this was the last thing either of them needed.

She grabbed the front of his shirt right above the top button and jerked downward, ripping the shirt apart and sending buttons flying.

Right, then. He kept a tight grip on her hips so she didn’t fall off his lap and brought his other hand down to start fumbling with the knot that held her sheet-toga-ceremonial robe thing closed.

She let go of his shirt and started squirming, pulling the hem up, refusing to let go of his lips, and he tried his best to help her get the thing off over her head.

“Wait.” He broke his lips away from hers and wrapped his arms around her waist, hoisting her up as he stood and dropped her onto the bar, pulling the material off over her head, trying not to drool because how had he not realized that she’d been going commando under that sheet?

“Brandt.” She grabbed the sides of his dress shirt and pulled him close again, pressing their lips together, and suddenly his sweet little Perri had gotten forceful. “Didn’t you just tell me I’d been on Earth six months and I needed to go ahead and have sex already?”

“Well.” He wasn’t sure what to say. He’d been with a lot of women who liked it a lot of different ways. But he’d never been quite as turned on as he was right this very second with the little woman in front of him handling him like a rag doll.

“Yes?”

“And that it should be with someone who didn’t freak out when they found out I was green?”

“Uh-huh?” He studied her, some weird mixture of turned on and really fucking intimidated.

“That leaves three possibilities. Anderson Fox is not interested in having sex with a female. Mattias is in love with my sister. And then there’s you. Ding ding ding, Brandt Turner, you are a winner. Now take me upstairs and take my earth virginity already.”

“Um…” he muttered once before she managed to press their lips together again, and all he could think was, “Sure.

Okay. Best to give the lady what she wants.”

“Now,” she growled.

And to think, he’d thought she was the mild-mannered alien princess in the lot.

New Release Review! HARD COMPROMISE by Samanthe Beck (Compromise Me #2)

In case you missed it, I had a chat with author Samanthe Beck about her latest book here.

Hard Compromise

by Samanthe Beck

Synopsis:

Laurie Peterson assumes her impulsive one-night stand with sinfully sexy Sheriff Ethan Booker is the biggest surprise of the year…until her bakery burns down while she’s basking in the afterglow. It looks like her dreams are up in smoke, but then Ethan proposes a deal too tempting to resist.

Ethan has no intention of settling for a one-night stand with Laurie. Nor does he want anything to do with the women his wealthy family wants him to meet. Not when he’s waited ten years for his chance to make his move. His deal might have strings—and Laurie may not know the stakes—but nothing will stop this sexy cop from staking a real claim on her body and her heart.

Review:

So, so good!

I loved Booker, and Laurie’s not too bad either. 😉 Together, they’re absolutely awesome!

Everyone but Laurie knew from the get-go that this fake relationship was going to turn into the real thing, but watching her come to that conclusion was a lot of fun. Hot, steamy, awkward-meeting-his-mother kinds of fun. Ms. Beck definitely did not disappoint with this one–I found myself laughing almost as much as I needed to fan myself while reading this one.

The whole I’ll-wait-ten-years-for-you-to-grow-up thing was kind of random–I appreciated the prologue, don’t get me wrong; it did a great job of setting these two up for a future when she wasn’t literal “jailbait”–but why exactly ten years? Sure, she ended up being in a much better place at 26 than she was at 16, but technically anytime after she turned 21 would have been acceptable. He wasn’t that much older than her. (Plus, it kind of reminded me of another dating-you-in-ten-years comment, and though the situations are totally different, who needs that reminder?) Still, the way Booker got them started was cute. Poor Aaron and his Am Ex card.

Hard Compromise takes place concurrently with book one in the series, Compromising Her Position , so it doesn’t really matter which one you read first–they both could work as standalones, but trust me, you’re going to want the whole story so you might as well grab them both.

As well as book three–surely we’re going to get Arden’s (Rafe’s sister) story soon, yes?

New Release Review and Giveaway! SUDDENLY DATING by Julia London (Lake Haven #2)

The ruse is starting to feel real—and romantic.

SUDDENLY DATING
Lake Haven #2
Julia London
Releasing Nov 8th, 2016
Montlake

If only Lola Dunne had the time—and the courage—she’d write her novel, and maybe even start dating again. When her friend offers the use of her summer home overlooking Lake Haven, Lola sees the chance to focus on herself for a change, and she eagerly accepts.

Engineer Harry Westbrook is waiting for his ship to come in. But it’s not happening soon enough for his girlfriend, who’s left him for good…again. To nurse Harry’s heartache, his pal extends an invite to his lake house in East Beach.

When it turns out that Harry’s and Lola’s friends are a divorcing, not-on-speaking-terms couple sparring over the same house, the strangers find themselves accidental (and reluctant) roommates for the summer. They agree to make the best of it, even posing as a couple to mingle among East Beach’s well-heeled crowd. But the ruse is starting to feel real—and romantic. Are they brave enough to reveal their feelings before the summer nights turn cold?

tastytoursexcerpt

New York City April

The first time Melissa broke up with Harry was on a Wednesday night, because Harry had come home later than he’d  said he would. Okay,    a lot later. Late-late. But he couldn’t help it—his crew had run into a problem installing a support beam under a bridge and it had taken a colossal effort by dozens of men to right that sinking ship.

When he walked into their little apartment, he knew he was in trouble. Melissa was sitting at the bistro table with an empty wine bottle before her and the dregs of said bottle in her glass. There was a plate of food in Harry’s spot: congealed spaghetti and something else he didn’t want to examine too closely. “I’m sorry—”

“I don’t want to hear it,” she snapped with a queenly flick of her wrist. “I’m done.”

Done. What did that mean, exactly? For the evening? With him? Harry wanted to ask, but as he was a veteran of this relationship, he knew better than to seek clarification when that much wine obviously had been drunk.

Melissa’s blue eyes narrowed; she knew he didn’t know what she meant. She came to her feet. Clumsily. And swaying a little when she pushed her long dark hair back over her shoulder. She had on a very short skirt and heels that made her look hot, and, God, Harry wished he’d made it home on time.

“I’ve had it with you, Harry. You’re always late. You come in looking like some Game of Thrones character with your shaggy hair and your dirty clothes,” she said, gesturing wildly in his direction.

“Well . . . I work in bridge construction,” he said calmly. “It’s kind of a dirty job. I apologize for my hair, but you know that I wear a hard hat most of the day.”

“So you can’t get a haircut?” she cried, and pitched forward, catch- ing herself on the table.

This was the first he knew that his hair was an issue. He dug in his pocket for a hair band and pulled it back into a short tail.

“Oh, yeah, that works,” she snapped. “Here’s the thing, Harry. You do whatever you want,” she sang, casting her arm wide, “and then you expect me to sit here and wait with a dinner I slaved over.”

Here they went with the same sort of argument they’d been having a lot lately. “I don’t expect you to wait, Melissa. That’s why I told you to go ahead without me,” he reminded her. “And, to be fair, it’s spaghetti.”

Fire leapt into her blue eyes.

“Not that I don’t appreciate it,” he hastily added. Jesus, he didn’t want to do this right now. He was tired, he was hungry, and that damn support beam was going to cost him more money he didn’t have.

tastytoursreview

I really enjoyed Harry and Lola’s story! It’s a forced roommate/fake relationship/friends with benefits mashup kind of book (sounds confusing, I know–though it does feel a bit schizophrenic at times, it manages to work somehow) that had me both shaking my head and smiling at turns. Though I desperately wanted Lola to just put her foot down about a million times, I also got why she had so much trouble doing it. Thank goodness for Harry–he at least stayed focused on getting what he wanted from page one, even though his witchy girlfriend dumped him because of it and his mother was about a million times worse.

Actually, a whole lot of the secondary characters in this one leave much to be desired. Fortunately, Harry and Lola spend the bulk of their time together in an absolutely fantastic summer home that doesn’t belong to either of them and that they shouldn’t be in in the first place…but I digress. They’re alone, in their own little bubble of total luxury, and it’s better that way. Swimming and cooking and trashing the kitchen (that part’s Lola) and freaking out about the trashed kitchen (Harry) and enjoying their mutual benefits and falling in love.

Sigh 🙂

And now it’s time for me to leave my Harry and Lola bubble and go back to reality…until the next book, that is.

(Suddenly Dating is the second book in the series, but it absolutely works as a standalone. Mia and Everett from book one make an appearance, but they are very minor characters here, and there really isn’t even a hint of their backstory, so you really won’t feel as if you’ve missed anything by starting with this one.)

New Release Review! FOOL ME ONCE by Katee Robert (Foolproof Love #2)

Fool Me Once
by Katee Robert

Synopsis:

They say opposites attract, but this is just ridiculous.

Aubry Kaiser doesn’t like people—actually, that’s not right. She loathes people. With her crippling anxiety, there’s no way she can demo her favorite video game at a convention with five thousand other people. Maybe if she brings someone to act as a shield…

But the only person available is the sexy cowboy she can’t stand.

Quinn Baldwyn is in a mess of his own. He’s been dodging his wealthy family’s matchmaking attempts—and life advice—for years, but with his sister’s wedding on the horizon, he needs of a shield of his own.

He and Aubry can barely hold down a civil conversation, but in bed…fireworks. And the closer they get to Quinn’s sister’s wedding, the more he realizes that he might actually like Aubry.

Now it’s up to him to convince her she might actually like him, too.

Review:

Loved!

I knew from what went on in book one (Foolproof Love) that chances were good that I’d enjoy this one–Quinn and Aubrey were practically jumping out of my ereader as I read, begging for their own story–and thank goodness, it did not disappoint. These two are gold together!

Aubrey–her neuroses have neuroses, she made me feel almost normal–is a video game goddess. Seriously, she has mad skills, and has been invited to demo them at a major convention but can’t even think about going because of her major issues with anxiety and crowds. She gets conned into going with Quinn, though–he’ll be her human shield and she’ll be his date for his sister’s wedding–and OMG, it’s the road trip of her nightmares dreams. Really hot, sweaty dreams…

The conversation when Quinn finds out she won’t get into an airplane, like, ever? Priceless.

“You would seriously rather spend several days in closed quarters with me than risk a tiny chance that our plane might fall out of the sky in a ball of fire?”

She went paler, if that were even possible. “That’s not funny.”

(The answer is yes. Yes, she would.) Plane crashes, zombie apocalypse, serial killers, ritual sacrifice, mutant crocodiles (mutants of any variety, really, except maybe those affiliated with Professor X–maybe), rooms full of Mexican food diners–Aubrey’s got serious concerns about them all. The more Quinn gets to know her and all of her idiosyncrasies, the better he gets and deflecting her anxiety and the more I fell for the guy. Seriously, about a third of the way in both Aubrey and I were total goners.

Fantastic chemistry, off-the-charts steamy scenes, and the best proposals I’ve read in I don’t know how long made this one my hands-down favorite of the series…and I thought book one was a hard act to follow!

New Release Review! WORKED UP by Tessa Bailey (Made in Jersey #3)

Worked Up
by Tessa Bailey

Synopsis:

Factory mechanic Duke Crawford just wants to watch SportsCenter in peace. Unfortunately, living with four divorcee sisters doesn’t provide much silence, nor does it change his stance on relationships. But when a fellow commitment-phobe stumbles into his life, getting him good and worked up, he can’t deny his protective instincts.

Samantha Waverly’s brother just put her in an impossible situation. The only way out? Marry huge, gruff, gladiator look-alike Duke—for show, of course. She doesn’t make promises—she knows too well how easily they can be broken—and this is no exception.

As the blistering attraction between them grows, the lines around the no-strings relationship blur. But Duke and Samantha’s marriage is only for show…or is it?

Review:

Insta-love (and lust), and at least one major plot point that made no sense to me (why, exactly does Samantha have to marry someone to help her brother’s business? No matter how many times it came up, I still didn’t get it. Okay, he’s gay–so…?) but somehow, I. Didn’t. Care.

I couldn’t put this one down–I loved Sam and Duke together (the puns! The bad jokes! and OMG, the sex…), and have been dying for Duke to find an HEA since we met the poor guy and his hundreds of sisters (okay, four. But it felt like more to me, and they’re not even my sisters!) in the last book (Thrown Down).

So much fun to read–definitely my favorite of the series so far! I don’t know how Ms. Bailey made me disregard things that are normally my triggers, but holy schmoly, did she ever!

Renner and Milo are next–yeeeeeeessssss! 🙂

New Release and Giveaway! PRETENDING WITH THE GREEK BILLIONAIRE by Kira Archer

About the Book:

Always the life of the party, Luca Vasilakis needs to prove he’s capable of taking over his father’s billion-dollar corporation. The perfect opportunity falls in his arms in the form of the reserved but sexy social worker Constance McMurty. What better way to improve his reputation than to get engaged to a do-gooder who is raising six orphans?
Constance wants nothing to do with Luca. But a poorly timed paparazzi photo lands her in the middle of a media nightmare, and Luca is her only way out. He proposes an idea that will help them both—be his fiancée to gain him some respectability and he’ll make a huge donation to her organization…and save her reputation.
But when their lie starts feeling like the truth, and the chemistry just won’t stop, they have a hard time separating what’s real and what’s fantasy…
Excerpt:

She didn’t budge an inch, even when he stepped so close to her only a breath of air separated them. Instead, she looked up at him, one eyebrow cocked.

“I can’t quite figure out why you continue to feel it necessary to invade my personal space. Do you have a hard time hearing or seeing me from a respectable distance? Maybe Joseph needs to make you an appointment for some glasses. Or a hearing aid.”

He chuckled, the thrill of the chase running through him. He leaned closer until she was forced to take a step back. Right up against the wall. “I like being in your personal space.”

She tried to frown but the expression didn’t quite make it all the way. “Well, I don’t like it.”

“Now, that’s not true.” He placed one hand on the wall next to her head and lifted the other to draw a finger down her cheek. “Why do you blush every time I come near you then?”

“It’s ninety degrees out and you keep insisting on forcing your body heat on me. It’s not desire; it’s heat stroke,” she said, raising her pert little chin in the air.

His finger trailed down the column of her neck, skimming over the pulse beating furiously beneath her skin. He leaned in even closer, his lips hovering near her ear. “Why is your blood racing?”

“Because you’re making me angry,” she retorted, with a voice not quite as steady as it had been.

“Hmm.” His fingers stroked along her collarbone and she shivered. What he wouldn’t love to do to this woman. “I think you’re lying…to me and yourself.”

“I don’t care what you think.”

“That’s not true, either.”

She glared at him. “You don’t know me, Mr. Vasilakis. So you’re really not qualified to make that assumption, are you?”

He gazed into her eyes and could almost see her slapping her defenses in place. There was a sensual woman under the surface of all that control, begging to be released. He couldn’t wait to see the passion she was capable of when she truly gave in to her own desires.

He closed his eyes briefly, trying to get a grip on himself. What the hell was he thinking? Yes, he wanted her, but she wasn’t the type he could have fun with and then walk away from. He didn’t know what it was about her, but he had a feeling she’d get under his skin, and that was the last thing he wanted. Too risky, too much to lose.

He glanced down, his eyes raking over her from her stylishly clad feet in their shiny new sandals, to her shapely legs, the hem of her white cotton sundress just skimming her knees, the dress merely hinting at the delicious body that hid beneath it. But most of all it was the intelligence and compassion radiating from those intense eyes that stared into his own, the strength and beauty that shone from her that she couldn’t hide even if she wanted to. She was different, this woman, from any he’d known before. She was dangerous.

And still he wanted her.

Author Lisa Brown Roberts Talks About Her Inspiration for RESISTING THE REBEL (with a New Release Review!)

Out tomorrow!

My Inspiration for RESISTING THE REBEL

Often, my characters arrive in my mind fully formed, demanding their stories be told. In this case, it was different. I’m a hardcore Sky High fan and have shipped Warren and Layla ever since I saw the movie (and at this point I don’t even know how many times I’ve watched it). That scene in the restaurant when he lights the candle with his finger? Slays me every time.

So when it was time to write another Crush book for Entangled Teen, who should show up in my mind demanding their happy ending but Warren and Layla? Of course I re-watched the movie for inspiration, and certain scenes on YouTube over and over and over…(rough author research).

This book isn’t an exact retelling, of course, because I’d be in big trouble with Disney if so, but I used Warren and Layla as my launching point for creating Caleb and Mandy, and I added a few winks and nods to the movie for my fellow diehard Sky High fans.

If you like bad boys with big hearts, and like to see the girl get the right guy for her happily ever after (not the wrong guy she thinks she wants), I hope you’ll check out RESISTING THE REBEL!

About the author:

Lisa Brown Roberts still hasn’t recovered from the teenage trauma of nearly tweezing off both eyebrows and having to pencil them in for an entire school year. This and other angst-filled memories inspire her to write YA books about navigating life’s painful and funny dramas, and falling in love along the way.

Resisting the Rebel
by Lisa Brown Roberts

Synopsis:

Disclaimer: This book contains a villain pretending to be a hero, a hero pretending to be a villain, a disco-dancing heroine, two overprotective sidekicks, a little bit of bad language, and a whole lot of swoony kissing.

Spirit committee leader Mandy Pennington is secretly in love with her best friend, Gus, but when he hooks up with her archenemy at a party, she decides to win him over once and for all. She just doesn’t know how. But who better to help than hot loner Caleb Torrs?

Caleb’s got his own problems, but when he sees Mandy pining over Gus at a party, he thinks she’s finally smoked the spirit stick and lost her mind. Maybe he has, too, because he just asked Mandy to be his fake girlfriend. She’ll get her loser friend’s attention, and he’ll get his stalker ex off his back. It’s a win-win.

But soon one fake date blends into the next and before he knows it, he actually wants to kiss Mandy. For real. Too bad their plan is working, and Gus is finally noticing the one girl Caleb just might be falling for…

Excerpt:

“I’ve got a stalker ex I need to get off my case,” Caleb said, his dark gaze locked on hers. “You’ve got a dork you’re trying to seduce. It’s a win-win.”

“Gus isn’t a dork,” she whispered, but for a second she couldn’t see Gus’s sweet face in her mind’s eye. Instead all she saw was the stony-faced badass drumming his fingers impatiently on the steering wheel. She swallowed. “Gus is a sweetheart.”

“Dork. Sweetheart. Semantics.” His lips curved in a mocking smile that did something to her stomach.

“N-no one would ever believe it,” she stammered. “That you and I would…” She blushed, unable to finish the sentence.

“That we’d what, Disco?” He unbuckled his seatbelt and moved toward her. Her breath caught in her throat as he reached out and touched her hair, twirling a long strand around his finger. He leaned in so close she could see a faint shadow of stubble on his jaw. “Go to a dance together?” He shifted even closer, moving in so that his lips barely brushed her cheek as he whispered in her ear. “Or just hook up?”

This wasn’t…he wasn’t…but she didn’t…not with him…she …Gus…Her thoughts spun out of control, just like her hormones. God, what was he—

He dropped her lock of hair and leaned back against his seat, smirking. “I think everyone would believe that. You did, didn’t you? Just for a second?”

Her hand flew up to slap him but he grabbed it like he’d been expecting it. “Two weeks. It won’t even take that long. Lover boy Gus only needs to see you and me do that once, and he’s yours. All yours.”

“Y-you’re such a—” He was still holding her hand, though he’d loosened his grip.

“Jackass. I know. But let me pretend to be your jackass boyfriend and we’ll both get what we want.”

Everything in her screamed no, but when she finally opened her mouth, the word that fell out was, “Okay.”

Review:

“Somebody turn up my oxygen,” Gran said from her chair. “I’m getting dizzy. This is better than the Gilmore Girls.”

You said it, Mandy’s gran! High praise indeed, and oh so true 🙂

Resisting the Rebel is about twelve kinds of adorable. (Twelve being the number of highlighted passages I have in my copy. Don’t worry, though, Caleb–they’re digital highlights. I too have fits when people don’t take care of books properly–which often makes my real-life job a very trying one indeed. But I digress.)

I fell in love with Mandy and Caleb practically from the first time they showed up on the page. How could I not? Mandy’s rants about The Catcher in the Rye could have been made by my own dear daughter (she too hated it with the heat of a thousand suns…and OMG she’s never going to let it go). And Caleb became my much-too-young-for-me-book-boyfriend when he reflected that

Someday when he was a famous author he’d have an enormous library, the kind with those ladders attached to the shelves. And nobody would get near his books with a d*mn highlighter.

Seriously–a guy after my own heart.

At first glance, it doesn’t look like these two could possibly work–the bubbly cheer dance squad girl who relies on positive mantras and worships the seventies with the all-black wearing loner who strikes fear in the hearts of freshman? It’s no surprise they have to put in extra time “selling” their relationship to convince his stalker ex and her secret crush…but it’s also no surprise that these two are actually perfect for each other. Watching them figure it out was the best part of my weekend.

Ms. Roberts has peopled the pages of this book with a group of amazing characters–as her dedication says, “heroes and sidekicks, archenemies and villains, best friends and boyfriends”–this book’s got them all! I loved every minute I spent with J.T. (the Blue Ranger to Caleb’s Red–LOL), Cammie, Liam, Jiro, Mandy’s “it’s the pain meds talking” Gran–all so much fun. I honestly can’t tell you how many times I laughed out loud in this book. The camaraderie and banter was just great.

I also really liked the way that Mandy’s learning differences (she has ADHD and dysgraphia) are portrayed, especially how her ADHD (she doesn’t take meds for it, because she didn’t like how the side effects made her feel) actually seems to help her to be a better leader and organizer. And when Caleb went home and researched and then texted her the names of famous people who have ADHD and/or dysgraphia? Too. Freaking. Adorable.

Ms. Roberts’ next release, The Replacement Crushis on my reading list for next month–can’t wait!

Is it August yet? 😉

Sigh…at least it gives me plenty of time to go re-watch Sky High again…

New Release Review! TAKE ME, COWBOY by Maisey Yates (A Copper Ridge romance)

Take Me, Cowboy
by Maisey Yates

Synopsis:

This sexy rancher is her best friend…but can he be more? Only from USA TODAY bestselling author Maisey Yates!

She’s just one of the boys, but with a new business in Copper Ridge, Anna Brown needs to change that. Her brothers bet she can’t land a date for a fancy charity event. So Anna turns to her best friend—the hottest bachelor in town—for advice.

Rancher Chase McCormack wants in on that gala. If Anna takes him, he promises to turn her into a lady. But the makeover reveals what he’s long suspected—Anna’s irresistible! Is his best friend prepared to be taken—heart, body and soul—by her very own cowboy?

Review:

Friends-to-lovers with a touch of My Fair Lady–an unbeatable combination!

Chase and Anna have been best friends pretty much forever. They know each other’s secrets. They understand the dark stuff in each other’s past that is so much a part of why they are the way they are. And when Chase needs to get invited to a charity event to schmooze for his business, and Anna needs a date for that same event to win a bet with her brothers, going together seems like the ideal plan–right?

Now add in the extra layer–to make it believable, they’re going to pretend to be dating in the weeks leading up to the event to guarantee Anna’s winning. And to make that believable (and help Anna to get more dates–okay, any–future dates), Chase is going to help Anna to be more girly.

Clearly nothing here could possibly backfire.

Except that Anna’s been in love with Chase since she was fifteen, and her mother’s leaving years ago made her believe she’s easy to leave and hard to love. And Chase’s parents’ death has taught him that nothing lasts, so he’s made “love ’em and leave ’em” his mantra, becoming a serial dater and never actually developing any of those encounters into relationships.

But still…it’s a solid plan, yes?

What I liked best about this book is how fearless Anna becomes. Once she decides to let down the walls she’d built up over the years, she really went all in, and it was awesome. I almost wanted Chase to continue in his a*shatery, because she clearly deserved better than him. Except that she really did love the big jerk, so it was better that he eventually get his head out of his you-know-what.

So far there hasn’t been a bad book in this entire series! I can’t wait to get to Ace’s book (One Night Charmer) and really, really hope Chase’s brother Sam is getting his own book soon 🙂
