This was an enjoyable read, and a promising start to a new series. I like that the Bliss line is one I can share with my 14-year-old without having to worry about her learning too much too soon 🙂
What I liked:
– The premise of the novel–I love the hero/heroine with a past, especially when that past involved a mystery/misunderstanding
– Blake’s niece and nephews (and their dog)–what a fun group! They made for a nice ice-breaker to ease Blake and Ana into a relationship again
– The elderly people of Nebitton–I can see them contributing a lot to future novels in the series
– The setting. A nice blend of San Francisco and small-town California, neither of which I’ve been to, but they sure sound like fun
– Very sweet ending 🙂
Things that made me go hmmmmmmmm:
– Conflict felt a bit contrived at times–the hero and heroine (heroine especially) seemed to go out of their way to manufacture and/or extend their difficulties. Ana’s refusal to listen to Blake toward the end really rubbed me the wrong way
– Does anyone in the US call a yard a “garden”? I’ve noticed this a few times lately, but it’s always been non-US writers doing it…it’s not a huge deal, obviously, but it still gives me pause. I’m always picturing the characters actually in a garden; in this book I was hoping the twins weren’t going to trample any tomato plants as they ran around… 😉
Overall this was an enjoyable read in a series I’m hoping to read more of in the future. Georgie and Sienna definitely need their own HEAs. Hopefully Jack will feature in there as well….
