 A new Shilling Agency book–yay 🙂

STPrincess_BlogTour

BOOK SUMMARY:

A sexy category romance from Entangled’s Brazen imprint…

He’ll give her exactly what she needs…

Protecting a princess is not what former marine Gordon Waybrook signed up for when he joined the Shillings Agency. But instead of the spoiled, regal little creature he expects, Isabelle VanGuard is a fiery, sexy-as hell woman who’s been denied what she needs for too long. And he’s just the man to break through her frozen public facade and give it to her.

When she’s with Gordon, all Isabelle can think about is pleasure. Their blistering chemistry is immediate and intense, but volatile. In fact, the only thing they agree on is that their one night together is just that—one night. Even after it becomes more. But tempers and temptation can’t disguise reality. Isabelle is a princess, and a hot, hard, and tattooed bodyguard isn’t the Prince Charming her country expects…even if he’s exactly what she needs.

Review:

Seducing the Princess reminded me of Roman Holiday –just with a lot more sex and the fantasy happy ending the movie lacked.

(Side note: My husband had a total crush on Audrey Hepburn, but hadn’t actually watched RH until we started dating. He wasshocked at the ending, shocked, I tell you–he was so sure it was all going to go another way. Seriously, when it came to movies, *I* was the one with the firm grip on reality. Shocking.)

Though it was a bit tough to warm up to Princess Isabelle at first–she was rather prickly and stiff–I loved all of her inner voice’s “A princess never…” and “princesses don’t…” directives. They’re in her mother’s voice, though when we finally meet her mother she’s way less rigid than I thought she’d be, so I suspect a good chunk of the “voice” was actually Belle’s perception of her mother’s POV.

A princess never pees. She powders her nose.

A princess never shows her thighs.

Princesses don’t chase men down hallways.

Princesses don’t fantasize about strange men.

Princesses don’t eat in public.

(So, yeah. It’s probably a good thing I wasn’t born a princess after all…)

Her ideas of what a princess is–and isn’t–cause her a lot of grief over her feelings for Gordon. She’s drawn to him, but is sure that if there were a handbook for all of the “Princesses don’t” rules he’d be gracing its cover.

Gordon is a sexy, tattooed, former Marine-turned-bodyguard–in other words, reader catnip. Obviously Belle won’t be able to resist him, especially when he helps her to let loose and do all of her “don’t”s–and feel so gosh darn good while doing so.

Okay, so maybe having a bodyguard like Gordon would make the whole princess gig more palatable after all… 😉

Seducing the Princess manages to give us the HEA that my husband had been hoping for in Roman Holiday, complete with an adorable epilogue. Was it totally realistic? Probably not. But it was an enjoyable read with likable characters, so I’m more than willing to go along with it.

Though it’s third in the Shillings Agency series, it works well as a standalone. That said, I’ll definitely be waiting in line for book four!
