Playing with the Prop

Synopsis:

Never mix business with pleasure…

A physical therapist for successful Rugby team, the Strathstow Sharks, Ashley’s golden rule is never to mix business and pleasure. She loves her job and the guys she looks after, and doesn’t want to jeopardise her place with the team. As nicely put together as her charges are, she’s never found herself remotely tempted.

Until now.

Harry James, the team’s newest prop gives her butterflies in her stomach every time she has to treat him, and her fantasies involving his hard, muscled body and sinful lips keep her hot and bothered at night. Luckily, he shows no sign of having noticed her attraction, and hasn’t shown any interest in her…

She’s been his from the moment he saw her…

Harry James marked the pretty little physio the first day they met. For the last year he’s been biding his time, and trying to get her attention. So much so, it’s gained him a few nicknames in the squad. Not that anyone would dare tell her.

When the Sharks win big on Harry’s birthday, can he stop at claiming a birthday kiss, or will he want everything she has to give?

Series Review:

A fan of sports-themed romance? Love erotic romance? Need some (almost) instant gratification? Enjoy (or even never heard of–knowledge is not crucial to enjoyment of the series) rugby? Give Mina Carter’s Strathstow Sharks series a try!

Though these books are short–my Nook gave page counts in the 40s for each–Mina Carter manages to pack a lot in to each. (A lot of smexy times, that is 😉 While some plot and character development are here, they’re definitely not the main focus.)  These books don’t take themselves too seriously, and neither should the reader. If you’re looking for an hour or so of pure fluffy escapist erotic romance, these will fit the bill.

While I enjoyed all three, but Harry and Ashley’s book was my favorite. They knew and were attracted to each other before the book started, which made the events that followed that much more believeable. With the other two couples, I had to suppress my Forensic Files-watching side for the first scene or two, because it kept wanting to chime in with mood-dampeners like Whoa, stranger danger! You just met him! A bunch of people you don’t know seeing you leave the bar together won’t be of much assistance to anyone but the investigators when he turns out to be a psychotic killer!  Once I cheerfully slapped some duct tape across my inner critic’s mouth, though, the fun of books one and two took me away as well as book three had. (Note to self: maybe I should  balance things out by watching more episodes of Masters of Sex?)

All in all, the Strathstow Sharks series offered an afternoon+ of entertainment. Need more convincing? Scroll down to the pic below the giveaway 😉 Still want more? Sign up for Mina’s newsletter; as of last weekend, new signups were given a free copy of Will and Fern’s book Hitting on the Hooker.

Rating: 3 1/2 – 4 stars; B – B+

Getting down and dirty with the Props…by Mina Carter

I have an admission to make. I have a very great fondness for props, not least because my husband used to play this position (why do you think I got into Rugby in the first place? ;)) but also because they are awesome players on the pitch.

In the team, Props are front-row forwards, which means in the scrum they’re right there at the front with the hooker (no sniggering at the back there please ;)) between them. They’re usually very big, and very powerfully built because they need to use their size and strength (believe me, these guys are strong!) to help stabilize the scrum, and that’s before any pushing takes place to win the ball.

Props can be the biggest and heaviest players on the pitch, but that doesn’t mean that they can be underestimated for their technical ability. Even after many years watching (and a while training to play) I still find it amazing how quickly these guys adapt to the ever-changing play on the pitch!!

In Playing with the Prop, the hero, Harry James, is a new Prop to the Sharks team, but just because he’s new and young, doesn’t mean he’s any kind of wallflower! He’s had his eye on Ashley ever since he arrived, and when his birthday rolls around…he decides it’s time to make his move!

Thanks for following along this week. Be sure to pop over to Amazon for FREE preview of PLAYING WITH THE PROP.

About Mina CarterMinaCarter_BW

Mina was born and raised in the East Farthing of Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England) and spent her childhood learning all the sorts of things generally required of a professional adventurer. Able to ride, box, shoot, make and read maps, make chainmail and use a broadsword (with varying degrees of efficiency) she was disgusted to find that adventuring is not considered a suitable occupation these days.

So, instead of slaying dragons and hunting vampires and the like, Mina spends her days writing about hot shifters, government conspiracies and vampire lords with more than their fair share of RAWR. Turns out wanna-be adventurers have quite the turn of imagination after all…
