Review and Giveaway! CROSSING THE ICE by Jennifer Comeaux (Ice #1)

Crossing the Ice
by Jennifer Comeaux
(Ice #1)
Publication date: August 2nd 2014
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult

Falling hard never felt so good.

Pair skaters Courtney and Mark have one shot left at their Olympic dream. They vow not to let anything get in their way, especially not Josh and Stephanie, the wealthy and talented brother and sister team.

The heart doesn’t always listen to reason, though…

The more time Courtney spends with sweet, shy Josh, the harder she falls for him. But they are on opposite sides of the competition, and their futures are headed in opposite directions. Will their friendship blossom into more or are their paths too different to cross?

This is the first book in the ICE series. The series continues with book #2, LOSING THE ICE.

Five words: pairs figure skating. Competing teams.

I read the blurb for this book, and I was so there. I’m not even sure it’s possible to count how many times I’ve watched The Cutting Edge. I’ve even watched all the sequels–but none of them even close to the number of times I’ve seen the original (because, really—sequels. Whatever). Of course Courtney and Josh don’t get to skate together–much–and the whole time they have to worry about partners who don’t trust the fact that they’re even being nice to each other (before their relationship is revealed) or that they can date and still be competitive (after it is) for what is in all likelihood a single spot on the Olympic team…

So. Much. Conflict.

It’s so hard to cheer for Court (though of course you do!) because for her to win Josh has to not win and he’s such a nice guy. (But his sister’s a witch, so you’re okay with her losing. If only it were possible for the good half of a team to win…) I loved Courtney and Josh together—pure adorableness—even with the competition and the fact that they’ll be on opposite sides of the country from each other in a few short months hanging over their heads. You just want them to be together, though, and you hope like heck Ms. Comeaux can pull it off.

She does—and it’s believable, thank goodness. But there’s a whole lot of anxiety in the meantime.

Worth it.

I can’t wait to see what’s up next for Court and Josh!
