A Conversation with Sara Humphreys, Author of UNDISCOVERED (Amoveo Rising)

Welcome, Sara! What 5 things should readers know about you?

  1. I spend too much time on social media but I love connecting with my readers and that’s the easiest place to do it.
  2. I love wine. Malbec if it’s red and Pinot Grigio if it’s white. Coppola is the only brand that I am certain doesn’t give me a headache.
  3. I struggle with my body image but I know I’m not alone, so I started the FB group Romance Readers & Writers Fit Club. There are only two rules: No judgment! And No book promotion-health & fitness posts only!
  4. I’m the mother of four high school and college aged boys. This means I have existed in a state of organized chaos for the past 22 years. #BRINGIT
  5. I loathe cooking.

OMG to that #4—impressive!

Where did the inspiration for this book come from?

I was watching Dragonheart and it got me thinking…what if there had been a Dragon Clan among the Amoveo? What would that look like? Where have they been? Amoveo Rising was born that lazy afternoon.

Hmmmm…I may have to watch Dragonheart again… 😉

How long have you been writing, and what (or who) inspired you to start?

I’ve always dabbled in creative writing but it wasn’t until 2008 that I completed my first novel. I had gotten away from writing and acting, my two creative passions, and that year I realized I really missed it. I need a creative outlet to stay sane.

Going back to that #4 again, I can totally see why you need that creative outlet!

What are you working on right now? What can readers look for from you in the next year?
I’m writing the first book in the Dragons Rising series. One group of dragons went into hibernation about 500 years ago because of the trouble with the Amoveo Clans (no spoilers) and the aggression from the human dragon hunters. They went to ground in with the hope that when they awoke, the world would be more welcoming of their kind. After that, I’ll be tackling the final book in my Dead in the City vampire series and then the 2nd Amoveo Rising novel.

Awesome! Can’t wait 🙂

What are you currently reading, and what are your thoughts about it so far?

The last book I read was for the RITA competition and since I’m not allowed to discuss it, I’ll simply say it was a terrific book. One of the best in the bunch I received.

Not fair! Sigh…

If you had to “sell” your book in a single Tweet, what would you say?

Who loves a tortured hero in need of rescuing? How about a hottie who shape-shifts into a dragon? #dragons #romance http://tinyurl.com/Amoveo-Rising

Oh, me! Me! Wait…that’s your tweet, not an actual question. Still, ME! 🙂

Thanks, Sara!

About the book:

He’s the man of her dreams…

A long time ago, Zander Lorens was cursed to walk the earth stripped of his Dragon Clan powers. Every night, trapped in a recurring nightmare, Zander relives his darkest moment. He can hardly believe it when the dream changes and a beautiful young woman appears. Zander believes she’s the key to ending his torment. Finding her in the real world is one thing, but how will he convince her of who-and what-she really is?

She’s the end to his nightmare…

Rena McHale uses her unique sensitivity as a private investigator, touting herself as a “human divining rod” and finder of the lost. By day she struggles with sensory overload, and by night her sleep is haunted by a fiery dragon shifter. Nothing in her life makes sense, until the man from her dreams shows up at her door with a proposition…
