Stephanie Fournet, where have you been all my life?
Seriously, there wasn’t a single thing about this book that I didn’t 100% love. Even when I had to put the book down for a few minutes (because I was so afraid of the talk that Luc and Millie were going to have…and equally afraid that they weren’t really going to talk yet, that I needed to take a minute before whatever was going to happen happened because my heart was just so darn full) I loved it. Luc. Millie. Mattie. Harry. Emmett. Clarence. Luc’s mami, papi, abuela, brother Alex–OMG, I loved each and every one of those people. They felt almost as real as my own family (perhaps slightly more so, in the middle of the night when they were all up doing their book thing and my actual family was all asleep)–not a one of them felt like they were there to meet a convenient plot point.
And man, never have I wished so much that I’d taken Spanish instead of French! Darn you, thirteen year old self…
Kind of Cursed made me laugh–a lot. It had me sighing more than once, and yep, there might have been a teensy bit of sobbing during the Coco scene. (Geesh, I can’t even write about it here without getting a little weepy. Darn you, Ms Fournet!) This was my first book from a new-to-me author, but you’d better believe it sure as heck won’t be my last.
