New Audiobook Review! PLAYING FOR KEEPS by Kendall Ryan (Hot Jocks #1)

I’ve never been so stupid in my entire life.

Elise Parrish, my teammate’s incredibly sweet and gorgeous younger sister, should have been off-limits, but my hockey stick didn’t get the memo.

After our team won the championship, our flirting turned physical, and I took her to bed. Then shame sent her running the next morning from our catastrophic mistake.

She thinks I don’t remember that night – but every detail is burned into my brain so deeply, I’ll never forget. The feel of her in my arms, the soft whimpers of pleasure I coaxed from her perfect lips….

And now I’ve spent three months trying to get her out of my head, but I’m starting to understand she’s the only girl I’ll ever want.

I have one shot to show her I can be exactly what she needs, but Elise won’t be easily convinced.

That’s okay, because I’m good under pressure, and this time, I’m playing for keeps.

Get ready to meet your new favorite hot jocks in an all new stand-alone novel. If you like sexy, confident men who know how to handle a stick (on and off the ice), and smart women who are strong enough to keep all those big egos in check, this series of athlete romances is perfect for you!

Review:

A really fun read–best friend’s little sister FTW 🙂

Playing for Keeps is Justin and Elise’s story–he’s a pro hockey player, and she’s the best friend’s bratty little sister who has always been around, and darn it, turned out to be pretty hot in her own right. She’s crushed on him for years; his attraction is a little more recent and a drunken hookup just might end everything forever–or will it?

Both Justin and his BFF have quite the reputations as man-you-know-whats, though that lifestyle has felt a little stale to Justin as the book opens (on the night of the fateful one night stand). The bulk of the story’s angst is between their drunken hookup and when they decide to go for their secret friends-with-benefits (just until they “get each other out of their system”–because that always happens, right?); once they get together they are just non-stop adorableness with occasional freak outs from Elise, doesn’t have a lot of dating experience and tends toward insecurity at times.

Their black moment serves up a dollop more of angst, which they (finally!) resolve with relatively little BS to give us a lovely HEA. The next book, featuring Elise’s brother Owen and her BFF Becca is next, and I am so here for it!

The dual narrators (Jason Clark and Virginia Rose) do a great job, making this an audiobook it was easy to listen to almost non-stop on a busy Sunday! As a bonus–it’s a part of the Audible Romance package, so if you have a subscription to it, it’s a free listen!
