A Conversation with Amy Andrews, Author of PLAYING THE PLAYER (Sydney Smoke Rugby #3)

Don’t miss my review of PLAYING THE PLAYER here.

Thanks so much for agreeing to be with us today, Amy!

Thanks so much for having me! I’m not a quilter but am in total awe of such creativity!

🙂

What 5 things should readers know about you?

  • I’m an Aussie
  • I’ve written over sixty books
  • I can still do the splits despite my advancing age and fear of dislocation
  • I love books that make me laugh.
  • I try really hard to write my men like men, not like how women wished men would be!

As much as I enjoy the fictional aspects of book boyfriends, I do appreciate #5—realism makes them so much better!

Where did the inspiration for this book come from?

My editor and I have brainstormed all the books in the rugby series so they’re a combo of our ideas. Linc’s story was inspired by my desire to see an unashamed manwhore fall and fall hard.

As I completely share that desire, I can only say THANK YOU.

How long have you been writing, and what (or who) inspired you to start?

I wrote my first book at 22. So that was 25 years ago!! I wrote for 12 years before I was finally published, though. But that’s okay, I consider it my apprenticeship, where I honed my craft and got used to the idea that not everyone is going to like my books! What inspired me? Temporary unemployment and a freezing cold English winter. I wanted something to do that didn’t involve getting off my electric blanket!

LOL, as someone who’s lived through many Western New York winters, I can totally relate to that inspiration!

What are you working on right now? What can readers look for from you in the next year?

I’m working on another 3 rugby books for this year – Ryder, Bodie and Donovan. As well as a couple of multi-author continuities – an Aussie fire fighter and a bull rider.

Awesome! Can’t wait 🙂

What are you currently reading, and what are your thoughts about it so far?

I’ve just been glomming Jill Shalvis’s Lucky Harbour series and loving it. I like how they’re low drama but still emotionally intense and her heroes are yummy!

Sigh—so, so true! Such a fun series!

If you had to “sell” your book in a single Tweet, what would you say?

Hot rugby manwhore meets born again virgin #wondercock v #armourplatedpanties It’s love or nothing & all bets are off #sportsrom #smokinhot

Perfect! Thanks so much, Amy!

After a long history with crappy guys, high school teacher Em Newman is going man-vegan. Four months of revirginization has opened her eyes to her doormat imitation but, baby’s got spine now, and some smooth-talking—even if he is sinfully hot—rugby player, won’t be adding her as a notch anytime soon.

Lincoln Quinn loves rugby, women, and poker. And he likes to win at all three. When his team mates bet him he can’t break through Em’s resolve, he’s more than up for the challenge. But this lady has a shoebox of stipulations before she’ll even go on a date with him, much less use that mouth for kissing instead of giving orders.

Something’s gotta give but this time Em’s not settling. And Linc’s questioning everything he ever knew about matters of the heart.
