Love badass chicks? So does Avery Flynn!

As Bad As She Wants To Be

All hail the badass chicks. The ones who kick ass, take names and give as good as they get. I love ‘em. They’re the hookers with a heart of gold in the Westerns. The avengers of the innocent in urban fantasy. The left hook of justice in graphic novels. And, of course, the righters of wrongs in romantic suspense. Basically badass chicks rock and here are five of my favorites from the movies.

5. Lara Croft, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider

Yes, her proportions are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of whack in the video game and to an extent were messed with for the movie and its poster but you can’t deny that Lara has agency. Brains, skills and power, she’s got the trifecta of badassery.

4. O-Ren Ishii, Kill Bill Volume 2

When a woman is so badass she can behead a Yakuza boss for being a jerk about her mixed heritage without a blink of an eye …well …you kinda gotta love her even if she is a bad guy.

3. Selene, Underworld

Are the Underworld movies good? ….. *crickets* …. But Selene is awesome. She’s a vampire poured into black latex who is on a mission to find the truth and any vampire or lycan who gets in her way should be terrified because she doesn’t lose.

2. Sarah Conner, Terminator II

Forget the confused waif in Terminator. By the time we get to the second installment, Sarah is all mama bear determined to protect her cub. Does she take it a little far? Well …really how far is too far when the fate of the world rests on your ability to keep your kid alive?

  1. Ellen Ripley, Aliens

No one beats Ripley. No. One. This movie starts slow but once it gets going, there is no doubt that Ripley will come out on top parasitic alien or not.

This Year’s Black
by Avery Flynn

“Incredible writing with witty humor and scorching sex scenes. This Year’s Black belongs at the top of everyone’s TBR list.”– New York Times bestselling author, Gina L. Maxwell

A fighter since birth, Allegra “Ryder” Falcon would rather trade in her all-black wardrobe for head-to-toe hot pink than let anyone ever see the cracks in her tough exterior. But one night with a stranger changes everything.

Devin Harris may have given up his MMA fighting dreams for high fashion, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t always in control. So when someone embezzles millions under his watch, he isn’t going to let the private investigator working the case go it alone–even if she is the woman who blew him away in bed and then blew him off.

Just when it seems like it couldn’t get any hotter between Ryder and Devin, the case takes them to a tropical paradise where the danger increases. From the catwalk to the pineapple fields, they have to work together to track down the missing millions before the thief finds–and kills–
