Review:
I loved how the story began–Garrett and Lauren have been friends since the sixth grade, and close friends since adulthood. They tried–and spectacularly failed–to take things to the next level six months earlier, and Garrett, the legendary-but-secret (he thinks, since he only sleeps with tourists…you’d think he’d know better, living in a small town all of his life) “sex god” of Marfa, Texas is obsessed with his one and only fail between the sheets and determined to make it all better. So he devises a plan…
…which Lauren does her best to derail, with an assist from Garrett’s (ahem) other brain. (OMG, the talking-tos he had with that organ. And when it talked back? I’m pretty sure there was some snort-laughing going on over here.) What follows is all of the sexy, and most of the sweet, and an HEA it’s easy to get behind. True, just about every source of conflict here is due to Garrett’s being an idiot who’s slow to recognize what he really wants and needs, but fortunately he’s a quick learner and even better groveler.
Oh, and the sex god bit doesn’t hurt either.
