They were standing in the middle of the bar, but no one was paying attention. And even if they were, she wouldn’t care. She reached as best she could with the height difference and looped her arms around his neck and pulled. He wrapped his arms around her and lifted, which allowed her to hold him tighter.
“What’s this for?” His lips brushed her neck, causing her to rethink their plans. Maybe they could just go upstairs and get naked.
“I’m sorry for earlier.”
He lifted his head, his eyes searching hers. “For what?”
“For getting a little hysterical over you trying to create a bridge between me and Catherine.”
He shook his head. “No, I should have—”
She gave him a quick kiss to quiet him. “I should have recognized that you were only trying to help. You love me.”
“With everything I’ve got.” He leaned his forehead against hers.
“I need to do better to remember that before going off half-cocked.”
“You were fully cocked.”
Her eyes narrowed. She leaned in lightly, bit his lip, then shimmied down his body, making sure to press against his most intimate part, until her feet were back on the floor. “Now who’s cocked?”
“You’re cruel.” But he winked and put a hand on her back as they made their way to the door. “You’re going to take care of it later though, right?”
