To celebrate the anniversary of their Kindle Daily Deal (which I use waaaay too often, especially thanks to that darn Whispersync for voice), Amazon has more than sixty-five of their past deals on sale again today. You can find them all here.
Highights:
The book that started it all: Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief for $2.99. I have students who read this over and over. Adventure, mythology, and (eventually!) a budding romance–what more can you want? Except maybe a movie that actually follows it. But I digress….
A mystery that I read earlier this summer on audio and really enjoyed, Michael Connelly’s The Lincoln Lawyer is also $2.99 (add narration for $4.99; darn you Audible!). There’s really no romance involved, but it was a good story–though not with the most sympathetic narrator ever. He did draw me in, though. Coincidentally, it was also made into a movie, which I haven’t seen yet. But I probably will, being a glutton for punishment and all.
Though watching Matthew McConaughey can’t ever be all that punishing. I hope.
Stephenie Meyer’s sci-fi novel The Host is $1.99. It’s gotten mixed reviews and took me a while to get into, but once I did I really liked it–though I haven’t read it for several years now. Also made into a movie, which didn’t get great reviews, but I’ll undoubtedly see it. Eventually. Also Whispersync available.
There’s a few other books that I’ve already picked up but haven’t read: Crazy Little Thing by Tracy Brogan, The Sisterhood by Helen Bryan, and Meant to Be by Terri Osborn.
There’s also an Agatha Christie, a few Nora Roberts, and several Karen Kingsburys.
There’s something for everyone: nonfiction, fantasy, mystery, suspense, westerns, general fiction, and of course romance. Go check it out–I’ve gotta go pack, sadly.
So I can buy more books when I get home, of course.
