What I’m Reading: Week in Review (9-13-13)

(Click on the image above to find out 10 fun facts about Friday the 13th–my favorite is that paraskevidekatriaphobia means fear of Friday the 13th. I’m totally going to use that for ELA class next week, when we’re talking about 50-cent words. It’s going to be one of mine!) Once again, school interferes with my reading, darn it. Still, I managed to be fairly productive, in spite of the tragedy that struck on Monday. The screen on my Kindle Fire cracked! It was horrible! I’m still not sure when/how exactly it happened, but it was found on the (hardwood) floor of my bedroom,…

Books on Sale! B&N has 50% off Nook Book “Select Romances for Young and Old”

My credit card might self-combust this weekend. Or go into hiding–for my own good (and the good of my bank account) of course. Barnes & Noble is having a “Romance Favorites” sale with more than 200 young adult/new adult books at half off their regular digital price–which is pretty pricey across the board, so their sale prices are good, but not dirt cheap. You’ve been warned. The ones I’ve read, though, are totally worth the cost. I don’t know how long the sale will last (the website says Limited time–shop now! which is not at all specific. Or helpful); perhaps it will…

Not just a river in Egypt. It’s all in my head, and I’m fine with that. With the dreaded “S” word starting soon, I haven’t been able to read as much this week as I wanted to, darn it. I’m still working my way through Notice and Note: Strategies for Close Reading, and if I can finish it by the end of next week I’ll be…

What I’m Reading: Week in Review (8/23/13)

Well, another family vacation is over (sigh.) and we’re that much closer to school starting up again (bigger SIGH.) This can mean only one thing: time for some serious denial! Nothing says denial like lots of non-school related reading, right? Though, sadly, I did sneak some school-related reading in there too. Even my denial has its limits. Unfortunately. On the first full day in the Poconos, my sister-in-law got us all tickets to see the minor league affiliates of the Yankees (her favorite team) play. I was a little concerned, because we woke up to rain that morning. (Not…
