Before I can say anything, she’s heading down the stairs, and I’m left staring at him, feeling sick over the thought of Florence doing anything with him at all. My stomach twists. The alcohol feels sour. I want to go home.
That’s when he meets my eyes.
That’s when the room goes silent.
He stops moving and smiles up at me. I want to smile back. I want to stand up and race down to him, throw myself at him and feel that connection coursing through our bodies.
But, I don’t do anything of the sort. I simply maintain eye contact until Florence reaches him, and the moment he breaks our gaze to look at her, I get up and make my way to the exit. I can’t watch this.
Pushing my way through the crowd, I almost make it to the exit. Almost. The world’s sexiest voice stops me in my tracks, as the world’s most perfect arm encircles my waist. “Found you,” he murmurs against my ear.
All I want to do is melt against his chest and move to the beat of the music with his body pressed to mine. I want to tangle my hands in his hair and kiss him with a passion I didn’t even know existed until a few days ago.
But I can’t. Not here. Not when I’ve just come from planning my wedding to someone else.
Pushing his arm away, I turn to face him. “I wasn’t looking for you. You were busy, and I was leaving.” God, he’s so incredibly beautiful. My fingers ache to reach out and touch him. My mind wants to let go of all my objections and just fall.
“Jealous?” His lips curve in a grin as he reaches out to take my hand. I want to bite his lip and pull at it with my teeth.
“I have no right to be jealous.”
“Sure you do,” he says running his thumb over my knuckles
