Thanks so much for agreeing to be with us today, Marisa!
Thank you so much for having me!
What 5 things should readers know about you?
This is harder than it should be, so I’m going to choose one thing from each of the past five years to make up my five things readers should know about me.
One: In 2014, author Sonya Weiss released the first book in her A Stealing the Heart series. A novel titled Stealing the Groom. To this day, I claim to everyone who will listen that I discovered Sonya Weiss on May 22, 2012 when she entered a contest on my blog and won a critique with my agent. Sonya’s one of my favorite authors and she has over ten books now! Her latest is releasing next week, and I’m so excited to read it! It’s titled The Firefighter’s Cinderella.
Two: In 2015, I resolved to not spend money on designer items for one year, and I didn’t. Instead, I used that money to make memories with my husband, and it was worth it.
Three: In 2016, instead of gifts for my birthday, my husband gave me 12 months of memories. Each month of the year we disappeared for a getaway, and making money to make memories became our new way of life.
Four: 2017 was the year I finally reached the age where my own opinions and my own happiness were in line with how I lived my life. I was finally comfortable in my own skin. I managed to merge how I wanted to live with how I was living, and it wasn’t that simple, but it’s how I remember it.
Five: In 2018, my husband and I packed two suitcases and two backpacks and moved from Naples, FL to Seattle, WA. With a one-week hotel reservation, we launched ourselves into apartment hunting and living a curious life.
Wow! That’s a fantastic list! 🙂
Where did the inspiration for this book come from?
I LOVE this question! In brief: my husband’s legs. He takes long, powerful strides, and usually he’ll slow down for me, but this one time he said, “We can’t slow down,” and while we were rushing, I starting singing (off-key) the chorus to what is now the theme song for Reforming the CEO. In the book, the main character (Vin) writes a song for the other main character (Reece), and that song became central to the inspiration of the book.
OMG, that’s perfect! I love it!
How long have you been writing, and what (or who) inspired you to start?
I’ve been writing since childhood, but my husband inspired me to actually complete a novel. He knew I wanted to write romance novels, and he encouraged me to gain the knowledge I needed to improve my craft and realize my literary dreams.
Clearly, he’s a keeper! I love how often he’s coming up here today <3
What are you working on right now? What can readers look for from you in the next year?
I’ve had Reforming the Bachelor simmering for a while now, and I’m having so much fun with these characters. She’s his best worst mistake, and this one has ballroom dancing!
Ooooh, I can’t wait!
What are you currently reading, and what are your thoughts about it so far?
I’m currently waiting to read The Firefighter’s Cinderella by Sonya Weiss. Sonya’s an amazing author, and I’ve set aside an afternoon for uninterrupted reading with tea and treats.
Sounds like an ideal afternoon!
If you had to “sell” your book in a single Tweet, what would you say?
Reforming the CEO is about an insecure girl with something to prove and the bad boy CEO who helps her become the fun person she wants to be. @marisacleveland https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/reforming-the-ceo-marisa-cleveland/1133980753?ean=9781640638815 #amreading #romance
Perfect! That works 🙂
Thanks so much for taking the time to have me on your blog!
Cheers,
Marisa
Thanks again for stopping by! It was fun!

What happens when your next door neighbor is the hottest, most notorious playboy in all of South Beach?
Reece Rowe is on hiatus from respectability. Before she returns to her stable, boring existence of charity events and dating predictable, stuffy suitors who are only interested in getting closer to the wealthy family who adopted her, she’s going to get a taste of what she’s been missing. She screws up her courage and heads to Vincent Ferguson’s office to find out what all the women in South Beach already seem to know about him.
Once CEO Vin Ferguson’s tech company goes public, he’ll have proved he’s no longer the poor, gritty kid from the wrong side of the tracks. But, citing his bad boy reputation, some financial backers waver, and his friends suggest dating a more respectable woman to improve his image. Ridiculous. Because delectable but snooty socialites, like his next door neighbor, are way out of his league.
And then, Reese walks through his office door and makes him an offer. To say his jaw hits the floor is an understatement.
And he can’t believe what she just proposed…
