What 5 things should readers know about you?
- They should know I take my writing very seriously. I feel a responsibility to deliver the best of my talent at the age I am when writing it.
- I’ve been writing for 40 years.
- I work endlessly on screenplays.
- My first Hallmark movie, THE SWEETEST HEART was aired last year
- I love to cook.
Congrats on the Hallmark movie! I’ll have to check it out 🙂
Where did the inspiration for this book come from?
In my town, La Porte, Indiana, there used to be the most fabulous all glass greenhouses built right after WWII. I spent a great deal of my childhood Christmases there, helping my mother choose the right poinsettias for the house and for friends. During the 1990’s I would come back to town for Christmas to see my family and that greenhouse was my first stop. I literally cry when I pass the abandoned greenhouse now.
Oh, that’s too bad!
What do you like best about being a writer? What is the most challenging part?
The best part is that I knew when I was six years old that I was a storyteller and to have spent nearly my entire life, being allowed by God to do the work he intended me to do, is something I am profoundly grateful.
The most challenging? Being patient while a group of editors finally read my proposals and then let me loose so I can write my book.
Patience is hard no matter what your job, that’s for sure!
What are you working on right now? What can readers look for from you in the next year?
Right now I’m writing An Enchanted Thanksgiving. It’s another in the Shores of Indian Lake series.
How exciting! We need more non-Christmas holiday books 🙂
What are you currently reading? What are your thoughts about it so far?
I’m reading Amy Vastine’s FALLING FOR HER BODYGUARD. As all Amy’s books are, it’s wonderful. I love her and her writing.
I also read a great deal of research that is not geared for Heartwarming. Astrophysicists. Archeology. Ancient civilizations. Most is for a television series I’m writing.
Oooh, Amy’s book sounds great! Love that title 🙂
If you had to sell your book in a single Tweet, what would you say?
HOME FOR CHRISTMAS like a shooting star, will spark the heart and ignite hope that love never dies.
Perfect! Thanks so much, Catherine!
