Being possessed by a vampire sucks!

Alana Jones’s world has been completely turned upside-down after being bitten by a vampire’s reflection in a cursed mirror. Now she’s forced to stay in an abandoned Victorian inn on an isolated island off the west coast of Florida, where Alana lives a double life: one as herself and one as a vicious murderer. Over the past year, she has spilt and drunk the blood of sixteen victims. The guilt of their deaths slowly eating away her sanity.

Sixteen dead . . .

However, things become even more complicated when Alana finds Cole, a surfer she felt a connection with the moment they met on the mainland, locked up in the island’s shed. Knowing his death is inevitable, she attempts to distant herself from him, continually reminding herself of the monster residing underneath her skin. Unfortunately, it’s a small island, and the more she interacts with Cole, the more her feelings grow for him.

Eventually, she has to make a decision. Either accept his fate or find a way to expel the vampire’s spirit from within herself before she murders him as well.

Excerpt:

Taking a deep breath, I walk in, watching the mirror with every step. The filtered light of the large window casts a soft halo around the silver frame. The etching of six sigils—a upside-down star with a semicircle on its upper-left foot, a horizontal hourglass with a cut corner on the upper right, an incomplete ‘V’ with an extra leg, an italicized capital ‘N,’ a triangle-shaped guitar, and three intertwined open triangles—are barely visible through the backlight. I’m not exactly sure what the sigils stand for. I just know they were called “sigils,” designed most likely to bind Charissa inside the mirror. Wish they had been more of a blaring warning sign instead. Especially after everything I’ve been through. Not that I would have listened back when I first found the thing. In fact, I didn’t listen. I blew off a stranger’s warning, even though he apparently knew way more about the mirror than I did.

I should have just listened.

I step into the mirror’s path, and a figure begins to appear, following my movements. But it’s not my reflection, which would show a petite nineteen-year-old girl with Makuahine’s Hawaiian features: long, blue-black hair; chestnut colored eyes; coco butter skin. That’s what everyone else sees. Not me. Not in this mirror. In this mirror, I see a tall, elegant woman about twenty years old. Her skin as pale as marble stone. Her lips as red as a rose petal. Her hair blazing like fire. Her eyes the color of ale.

Charissa—the vampire whose spirit once resided in the mirror and now possesses my body.
