Check out today’s post from author Scarlet Wilson here. She gives reasons for working/ not working at Seacliffe Clinic from both Selena and Colt’s POV–and there’s an excerpt and giveaway!
About the book:
Hollywood surgeon Colt Travers needs a new receptionist ASAP. When the adorable—and completely broke—Selena Harris comes in needing stitches, he takes a risk and hires her on the spot. She can pay off her bill, and he won’t have to answer the phone anymore. They’re opposites in every way, and she’s exactly what he doesn’t want in a woman—impulsive, carefree, and amusing. He’s trying to resist her, but the longer she’s around, the further he sinks into temptation.
Selena never meant to get herself in such deep financial straits. LA has way too much temptation, from high-end shopping to gorgeous men, and now her life is in chaos. But Colt is different—responsible and noble—and although their chemistry is off the charts, he’s keeping her at arm’s length. She’s determined to win his trust–and his heart–but will the secrets she’s desperately trying to hide ruin their chance for a big Hollywood happy ending?

Review:
Hollywood Temptation was a fairly quick, light read. Selena’s character is reminiscent of Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic character–addicted to shopping beyond her means, in possession of a fabulous wardrobe and a quick sense of humor–but with the added bonus that Selena actually manages to recognize that she has a problem and works toward make things better in the end (I eventually had to give up on Kinsella’s series, even though her heroine shared my name. She just never did learn, and it was aggravating). Colt is a dream hero–a doctor who chose his profession for the best and noblest of reasons, a totally hot and nice guy, AND a not-so-closet sci fi fan.
Seriously. Selena and Colt dress up as Leia and Han not once, but twice in this book. Obviously I was going to like this novel. It was predestined. 😉
Selena’s struggle to hide her woes from Colt lead to some funny moments, and the fact that she worked so hard to make things right with her ex made her character, which was admittedly difficult to connect with initially, much more appealing in the long run. Colt?–well, on top of his general fantastic romance novel hero greatness, he has sci fi memorabilia in his office. He makes a pretty penny, so it’s some pretty high-end stuff–a genuine Star Trek communicator and a used-on-set lightsaber from Star Wars, among other things.
Though they move from fall-in-lust to fall-in-love a bit quickly, it doesn’t stretch the boundaries of believablity too much, given their close proximity at work and the amount of time they eventually spend together outside the office. I did think the mystery of who is selling celebrity client secrets to the press (continued from book one, Hollywood Blackmail) was a bit obvious in this one, though I suppose I can see why the Seacliffe Clinic regular characters wouldn’t want to see the truth of it and are continuing to live in denial.
Plus, we need to have a reason for a book three, right?
