Oh my goodness, I freaking loved this book! How have I not read anything by this author before now?
I kept making excuses to keep listening to this one–the suspense was fantastic, the mystery kept me guessing (I was sure I knew who the killer/stalker/serial rapist was about 15% in–I was wrong, and only just realized it *just* before it became glaringly obvious I was wrong! Though the real one was on my short list of alternates, at least, it definitely wasn’t obvious), and the romance–a second-chance one, of sorts–was amazing! I loved both Erin and Darsh and was pulling for them to come together from the instant they showed up on the page together. Though most of the novel was from their POV, Ms. Anderson added in just enough alternate POVs (including the killer’s, which was positively chilling!) to keep the story flowing seamlessly.
Even though this is book 6 in the series, it worked just fine as a standalone. I’m certain that several past series characters had small parts/were mentioned, but you don’t need to have read their stories before this one at all. (Though you’ll undoubtedly want to. I’ve already picked up the first 3 books as an audiobook box set–woot! And the set for books 4-6 is part of Audible’s Romance Package, so, woot!) The narrator made listening an enjoyable experience–if he’s narrating some or all of the others, you won’t see me complain 🙂
