On Tour with Prism Book Tours
Thanks so much for agreeing to be with us today, Jennifer!
Thanks for having me over, Becky! Love your quilt featured above, btw. I come from a long line of quilters. It’s on my bucket list to pick up the tradition one day.
Thanks 🙂 I highly recommend quilting as a form of stress relief—plus, you can listen to audiobooks while you do it, so—win-win!
What 5 things should readers know about you?
- I am an unapologetic nerd. I know way too much about Blade Runner, Star Trek, Star Wars & Game of Thrones. I have also read almost everything Tolkien I could get my hands on and used to write fanfiction for it in high school.
- I am the youngest child in an older family. My parents were 40 when I was born the youngest of my three brothers is 11 years older than me. So not only did I always get along better with older people, I’ve been raised on a lot of things my peers were ever-confused about.
- Because of the older brothers thing I mentioned, I grew up with an unhealthy obsession with the 80s. Lucky brothers got to be teenagers during that time, so watching John Hughes movies was like watching their experience. Also…honorable influence mention due to the old fantasy flicks like Dark Crystal, Labyrinth and Neverending Story.
- I’ve been in love with trees since I was a child. We live in a 100 year old farmhouse in the middle of a forest. Some people may find that isolated but for me it’s pure freedom.
- My friends called me the “soundtrack guru” all through high school and college. When we go to the movies, I can tell who composed it usually in the first refrain. For those of you unfamiliar with this amazing music, check out the scores of some of your favorite films and prepare for some epic chill.
OMG, I love movie soundtracks! Listening to them while I wrote papers kept me sane during my undergraduate degree. What is this “unhealthy obsession with the 80s” you speak about? Obsessing over the 80s is TOTALLY normal, right? Right?!? 😉
Where did the inspiration for this book come from?
Like I said before, I used to write Lord of the Rings fanfiction, usually with my twin best friends. After several years and, yes, three books later, I wanted to try my hand at original fiction. I decided to write a fantasy story with us as the main characters once more, only this time the sky was the limit for what we could do. Since then Silver Hollow became its own creature. The twins still love it. I still find moments to write Harry Potter fanfiction.
Inspired by Tolkien—can’t got wrong!
How long have you been writing, and what (or who) inspired you to start?
I started writing short stories when my grandpa gave me his old typewriter. He was always encouraging me to write, because he wrote short stories on the side and had published some genealogies. But he always wanted to write fiction. Before he died in 2008, he gave me his notes and asked me to finish his story and to one day tell Grandma’s life story. I’ve been working on becoming skilled enough to fulfill my promise ever since.
Oh, I love that! Yours might be my favorite answer to this question ever 🙂
What are you working on right now? What can readers look for from you in the next year?
My current work-in-progress is a serialized urban fantasy romance novel called Angel Blue. Angel Blue is the first novel or “season” in an ongoing series titled Seven Deadly Sins. It’s been a passion project of mine the past ten years and was the book which started my writing career. You can learn more on my blog or add it to your Goodreads.
Sounds great!
What are you currently reading, and what are your thoughts about it so far?
This is tough because I’m reading five books right now. But I always love to shout-out my fellow Indies and Refugees (Mud, Rocks and Trees #1) by R.A. Denny has been a fantastic and original epic fantasy so far. Stay tuned for my review! Oh, btw, I also have a book blog if anyone’s interested in checking that out. SilverWoodSketches is my way of giving back to my fellow authors 🙂
Nice! We’ll have to check it out 🙂
If you had to “sell” your book in a single Tweet, what would you say?
Amie ignores the unexplained mysteries in her life…. Until she is stabbed in an alley and brought back to life by a handsome stranger. (I can thank creating my book trailer for this one :))
Perfect! Thanks again, Jennifer—and good luck with your release!

Silver Hollow
(Borderlands Saga #1)
By Jennifer Silverwood
Urban Fantasy
Paperback & ebook, 429 pages
May 31st 2018 by SilverWoodSketches
“I shouldn’t have to tell you this isn’t a fairy story…”
After her parents’ car crash ten years before, Amie Wentworth trusts books more than people. She may be a writer, but she believes in reality over fiction. She ignores the unexplained mysteries surrounding her, never mind the dreams of a past life, or the fact she can fry technology with a touch. Not even a timely invitation from her long-lost uncle in England gives Amie incentive for anything other than ire.
Until she is stabbed in an alley and brought back to life by a handsome stranger. Soon Amie is dragged into the very sort of tale she is used to selling. To make matters worse, the man who saved her life keeps turning up and her would-be-murderer is still at large.
After crossing the Atlantic to her father’s homeland, she discovers a world beyond imagining. Silver Hollow is a place of ancient traditions and supernatural dangers, where everything is the opposite of what it seems and few escape sane. Faced with an impossible choice, Amie is forced to confront a deadly family legacy while remembering a life she soon wishes to forget.
