“Holly do you want to go home? You’re pissed.” Lila is holding me up in the queue for Heaven.
“Nah, I’ll be fine. Just get me some water when we get inside and I’ll be grand.” I lean in to her and she hugs me.
“Girls,” she says to Rosie and Fifi. “We’re only drinking water in here. We need to look after her tonight. I can’t believe Trey did this to her. He’s the reason she’s been drinking.”
“No, you don’t understand.” I pull away from Lila. “Yes, he’s the reason I was drinking but for good reasons. I’ve realised how wrong our relationship was. I’m celebrating the end of being second best. The next guy I have a relationship with won’t treat me as second best, I want him to treat me like I’m special.”
The three girls look at me like I’ve grown an extra head, and then they all hug me in a huge group hug. “We’re so glad you finally realised what we’ve been trying to make you see these last couple of weeks. You should never be second best. You’re too gorgeous and wonderful to be someone’s second thought. You should be someone’s first and last thought every day.”
“Ah god, now you’re going to make me cry, Lila.” I begin to blub and they pull away.
“Come on, let’s just go and have some girlie fun and see if we can go home together tonight. No men in our way. Just the girls having fun.”
