Review:
Dealmaker, Heartbreaker was my first book from this author. It’s a relatively angst-free read; Noah’s been smitten with Viviana since before the book even started (presumably we see their first meeting in a previous series book) and the bulk of this book is him waiting for her to let go of her past relationship baggage to give him a chance. She has had a truly awful past where men are concerned, including an ex who stole her identity, so learning to trust again takes some doing and it often feels like it’s a matter of taking two steps forward in their relationship and three steps back. Their black moment felt a bit contrived and easily solved, but the epilogue was sweet.
This book worked fairly well as a standalone; though I’m pretty sure many of the past series heroes and heroines showed up here, you don’t have to have read their stories to pick up this one. If you need to see the first moment Noah and Viv meet, though, you’re going to have to pick up an earlier book first.
