Thank you for hosting me on your blog, Becky. It’s a great pleasure to be here!
What 5 things should readers know about you?
- I am grateful to every single person who chooses to spend their leisure time reading one of my books.
- I enjoy book signings and other events where I can meet readers!
- Reading is one of my favorite pastimes.
- If you have a dream, pursue it. With hard word and determination, you can make your dream come true! I am proof of that.
- I love to hear from readers!
Great list! I love the pictures from your events—nice touch!
What inspired you to write this book?
I have tremendous respect and appreciation for law enforcement personnel who dedicate their lives to keeping us safe, and I love all animals, with a particular fondness for dogs. Combining these two things, the K-9 trilogy was a natural outcome for me.
How long have you been writing, and who (or what) inspired you to start?
I first thought about writing when I was in university. I got caught up in my professional life, and my first attempt at writing a novel, a half-finished manuscript, is tucked away in a storage box somewhere in our basement. In 2010 my husband and I were on vacation in the Caribbean, and on a whim I wrote a short story and entered it in a contest. My story placed 52nd, which doesn’t sound like a significant accomplishment unless you consider that there were over 12,500 entries across all genres. My husband knew I had always wanted to write, and seeing how much I had enjoyed writing that story, that year he gifted me a personal laptop for writing for my birthday. I had thought that I didn’t need another laptop, as I had a perfectly good one (for work) already, but it made a huge difference. That was when I started writing my debut novel, Silver Linings!
I am inspired by all the wonderful authors who I love to read, but most importantly, I have to give credit to my husband for knowing me better than I knew myself, and getting the whole process going with that first personal laptop!
What a great story! And a big thank you to your husband—what a guy!
What is the best–and worst–thing about being a writer?
The best thing is connecting with a reader—someone who has either enjoyed one of my books or has just purchased one and is excited to start reading it. I can’t think of anything truly bad, but I always feel a bit of nervous anticipation before one of my books is released, hoping that readers will like it.
Perfectly understandable 🙂
What are you reading right now, and what are your thoughts about it?
I am reading fellow Heartwarming author Muriel Jensen’s To Love and to Protect. I am about one third of the way through the book, and my heart has already gone out to the heroine and what she had to endure as a child. I can hardly wait to see how the conflicts between hero and heroine are resolved. I know Muriel won’t disappoint!
Sounds great! Another new-to-me author to check out—thanks!
If you only had a single tweet to “sell” your book, what would you say?
Rather than me trying to sell readers on my book, I love to retweet readers’ tweets, or tweet snippets from reviews. So here’s a tweet based on RT Magazine’s review of When Love Matters Most:
@RT_Magazine on When Love Matters Most: “With the right amounts of action, tension & romance, readers are sure to be dazzled and delighted.”
Please feel free to retweet! 🙂
Thank you, I will!
