Thanks so much for agreeing to be with us today! What 5 things should readers know about you?

The five things readers should know about me are:

  1. I love to create. I draw, design (I am an interior design student), I love color and eclectic things.
  2. I love to laugh, although my humor is often misunderstood.
  3. I write because it heals my heart and soul.
  4. I am very honest person. If you don’t want to know the truth, don’t ask.
  5. I have compassion for all living things (with the exception of flies). I won’t even pick flowers or receive them, because that means they must die.

Great list!

Tell us all about your main characters—who are they? What makes them tick? Most importantly, what one thing would they need to have with them if stranded on a desert isle? 😉

My main character is Nikki. Nikki is a tough girl (14) who is going through a lot mentally, physically and emotionally. Her desire is to be loved and survive. She knows she deserves love, but she has no idea how to get it. Although she is enduring neglect, abandonment and a skewed family dynamic, she is determined to make it, whatever the cost. If Nikki was stranded on a desert isle, she would need food and her diary.

She sounds like quite a heroine.

Where did the inspiration for this book come from?

My personal experiences.

Wow—impressive.

How long have you been writing, and what (or who) inspired you to start?

I’ve been writing since I was around 10 or so. I always had a need to express. When I got older, I used writing as an outlet to release the pain I felt (and still do).

That’s a great way to turn hardship into inspiration.

What do you like best about being a writer? What is the most challenging part?

I like creating stories that inspire others. The hardest part is sitting and writing. I want to play.

“Butt in chair” is sometimes the hardest part…

What are you working on right now? What can readers look for from you in the next year?

I am working on Little Miss Somebody 2.  It will be released in 2016.

Wonderful!

What authors and/or books have inspired you?

Maya Angelou is by far my greatest inspiration. Her words were gracefully written. I like Anne Lamott’s work too.

Great choices!

What are you currently reading? What are your thoughts about it so far?

I am reading I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, by Maya Angelou, again. Love that book!

Nice choice!

If you had to “sell” this book in a single Tweet, what would you say?

A Heartwrenching, provocative and inspiring read, Little Miss Somebody. Nikki needs love, will she get it?  (link).

Great! Thanks so much J
