New Release Review: TILL JUSTICE IS SERVED by Jerrie Alexander (Killer Affections #1)

I love finding new romantic suspense authors (well, new to me anyway), especially when they’ve got a backlist 🙂

About the book:

FBI agent Rafe Sirilli has made the war against narcotics drugs his personal fight. Home to settle his father’s estate, Rafe has no desire to get involved in local matters. Yet, he finds himself involved in solving two homicides and busting a drug ring as he tries to prove the innocence of a girl he’d long forgotten. Erin has grown into a beautiful woman. The passion she ignites in Rafe is hot enough to incinerate them both. His decision to deliver his own brand of justice will put his commitment to the law to the test.

High school counselor Erin Brady is committed to helping kids. Her world crashes around her when she’s accused of making inappropriate sexual advances and suspected of murder. Erin’s problems have only just begun. She has a secret admirer, one who vows to kill anybody who threatens to harm her or interfere with his plan. Rafe Sirilli agrees to help prove her innocence. Romance blooms, but Erin refuses to hope for permanence. Rafe is available for loan but not to keep.

Will facing old fears help Rafe capture the heart of the woman he loves? The woman who just turned him away?

Review:

Till Justice is Served was a real page-turner–the secret admirer (AKA stalker) plotline was just so creepy; I didn’t want to put the book down and leave Erin in his clutches for a second longer than I had to. Though we see some very disturbing scenes from his POV throughout the book, it’s not totally obvious who he is until the big reveal.

The first book in the new Killer Affections series, Justiceintroduces us to a group of sexy and protective alpha males that I really hope we get to see more of in the series. Rafe, of course, was the hero here–having lost his twin to a drug overdose, he’s made the war on drugs his life’s work. Colton, his partner in the FBI, has a drop dead sexy Texas drawl and a mysterious past; Luke, Rafe’s younger brother, is fresh out of the military and looking to start a new life for himself. All three are heroes I’d love to read more of in the future.

Erin too was a strong character–I liked that she wasn’t content just sitting back and letting the “big strong men” do all the hard work. Her strength under pressure makes the resolution of the stalker plotline all the more satisfying.

My only issue is that the suspense of the romance portion of the plot was fixed up rather quickly at the end–with Rafe’s issues and concerns, it felt like it should have taken a bit more effort to make it work than it did. Still, this was one heck of a read–I’ll definitely be looking for more from this author and series!
