Finally! Mei and Darius’s story 🙂
A paranormal category romance from Entangled’s Covet imprint…
How To Claim Your Dragon…
As the head of security of Vegas’s Crown Jewel casino―and its hidden dragonshifter sanctuary―ice dragon Darius Dachien commands respect. Unfortunately, that respect isn’t always reciprocated. In fact, when it comes to the stunning Mei Chen, hostility might be a better word. Which makes things even harder for Darius, since Mei is his dragon mate. Without her, his dragon form is fading fast… and once lost, will be gone forever.
Mei can’t deny the fierce chemistry that simmers between them. If Darius were ever to discover who―or rather, what―she really is, she wouldn’t just lose him, but her place with the dragonshifters. The moment Mei’s past comes crashing into her present, she realizes her time for secrets has ended. Now she must reveal her true self… and risk both her life and her heart with the one man who could destroy her.
Review:
Susannah Scott’s been teasing us with Mei and Darius’s story for two books–finally we find out what would make Mei give him the terminally cold shoulder.
It was a long wait–but fortunately, totally worth it 🙂
The book opens with Darius trying to make yet another series of clumsy attempts to woo Mei–in his adorably geeky, head-of-security way.
(Let’s just say it’s probably a good idea to at least make sure an unwanted gift wasn’t once alive before you throw it out in your work trash can and leave it there overnight. Lesson learned.)
But a smelly office is soon the least of her worries as Mei learns that her past has finally found her again. Can she escape it once and for all, or is it too late? This time, it’s not just her life that’s at stake, but Darius’s, and possibly even Alex the dragon king’s as well. There’s something huge she’s kept from all of them, and it’s about to come to drag her back to the nightmare she thought she’d left behind…
I really enjoyed being able to see into Mei’s head and finding out what her secret was. Though I wished she’d been able to completely trust Darius sooner, I understand why she didn’t. And when Darius finds out just how much she’d been keeping from him? Heartbreaking. For a while there, I wasn’t sure how Ms. Scott was going to be able to pull off an HEA.
(Spoiler alert–she does. And it’s a fun read in the process–bonus!)
There isn’t a whole lot of explanation of the characters and their universe in this one, so though it could probably be read as a standalone, I have a feeling the story works better after you’ve read books 1 and 2. If nothing else, you’ll be anxious to find outwhy the heck Mei can shut Darius out so completely when he so desperately wants to complete their bond…and not just because his dragon is fading, but heck–his dragon is fading. How can she possibly stand by and watch that?
Thank goodness, in the end she can’t. And she doesn’t.
Bring on book 4!
