Genevieve MacKenzie has her life completely under control. About to wed the charming Chief doctor at the local hospital, she’s an up-and-coming surgeon with everything she could ever want. Until an escape through the church window on the day of her wedding sends her life into a tailspin…and flings her right into her best friend’s arms.
When Wolfe catches his best friend falling out a window on her wedding day, he doesn’t ask questions. He whisks her away, determined to watch over her and discover the truth behind her desperate escape. But when his feelings turn more than platonic, he realizes he may risk his most important relationship in order to protect his damaged heart, and the woman he loves.
Can Genevieve and Wolfe’s friendship turn into something deeper—or is it already too late for true love?
Like Gen’s reasons for jumping out of the church window on her wedding day–reasons she wasn’t even acknowledging to herself at that point.
And the truth behind Wolfe’s mysterious past.
And an oh-my-gosh scary and manipulative man who made my blood run cold.
And a beautiful look at what both friendship and family really mean.
And a totally delicious set-up for book four ( Searching for Always ). I seriously want to read that book NOW.
Ms. Probst’s books have been kind of hit or miss for me–the first book in this series, Searching for Someday , started out strong, but then it fizzled. I had high hopes for this one, though–its gorgeous cover and the intriguing runaway bride/friends-to-lovers plot line were calling my name–so I decided to give it a shot.
Sooooo glad I did! I loved Gen and Wolfe’s story from the very first page. (Seriously, how many heroines describe themselves as “hobbit-sized”? Too funny!) They both had so many demons to conquer before they could get to their HEA, and never was the “H” of an HEA so deserved!
(Thank goodness the airline attendants didn’t make me power off my tablet while I was reading this one, or somebody might have gotten hurt.)
Now I’m going to have to go back and read book two ( Searching for Perfect ), just to make sure I don’t miss anything.
At least it will keep me busy while waiting for book four… 😉
