Private Investigator Kira Vance spends her days navigating the intricate labyrinth of Houston’s legal world, and she knows all of its shadowy players and dark secrets.
On a seemingly normal day, she’s delivering a report to her top client when suddenly everything goes sideways and the meeting ends in a bloodbath. Twenty-four hours later, the police have no suspects but one thing is clear: a killer has Kira in his sights.
Fiercely independent, Kira doesn’t expect—or want—help from anyone, least of all an unscrupulous lawyer and his elite security team. Instead, she launches her own investigation, hoping to uncover the answers that have eluded the police. But as Kira’s hunt for clues becomes more and more perilous, she realizes that she alone may hold the key to finding a vicious murderer. And she knows she must take help wherever she can find it if she wants to stay alive.
Review:
The second book in Ms. Griffin’s Wolfe Security series didn’t disappoint! I really enjoyed Kira and Jeremy’s story, and OMG, I’m still smiling like a loon after reading the last chapter…
Her Deadly Secrets is a lot more heavy on the “suspense” part of “romantic suspense” and honestly, I was fine with that. I enjoyed the slow burn of Kira and Jeremy’s romance, and honestly, as much as I enjoy bodyguard romances, I usually can[t help but wonder how well they’re really doing their jobs if they’re constantly distracted by…other things. Here there was a heck of a lot of suspense-type things going on pretty much all of the time, and I’m just as glad as Kira was that Wolfe security managed to keep her alive through them all. Plus, the waiting made them actually being together all the sweeter…
Yep, STILL SMILING.
I also really liked that Kira was a PI and that she took such an active role in figuring out what was going on–and loved that she shared what she knew with the police and didn’t engage in too many TSTL tactics. She did get a bit frustrated with the logistics of being guarded, but she also let them do their jobs and appreciated the results. She almost always listened to them, anyway…
I can’t wait to see what’s next up for this series!
