New Release Review! DAMN WRIGHT by Skye Jordan (The Wrights #2)

Damn Wright cover

There is no story too risky for foreign correspondent Dylan Wright. Not until the same reckless drive that shot him to the top of his career also cost him his best friend’s life. Shattered by the loss, Dylan returns home to fulfill his friend’s last request—for Dylan to reconnect with his family and do right by the woman he left behind. But the love he thought lost all those years ago returns with a vengeance, and the only assignment he’s interested in now is a second chance at first love.

Emma is a survivor. Even the trauma of losing the love of her life couldn’t crush her desire to become a doctor. Engaged to a successful surgeon and weeks away from finishing her residency, Emma’s path is set. Until the man who broke her heart resurfaces with an offer too good to refuse. Now, Emma is forced to choose between two dreams—the one that saved her all those years ago, and the one that ripped her world apart.

Review:

Oh, goodness; this one was so good!

Though I have to admit, Ms Jordan waited until literally the last minute to give us that HEA, and I was…concerned, shall we say? Good grief, reading was supposed to be my stress reliever today…

But I digress.

Dylan and Emma’s second chance romance was a lovely story. Trying to sell a romance as a second chance is always tricky–it didn’t work out the first time, why should we believe the second time will take?–but here Ms Jordan did an excellent job of showing us exactly how the two of them have grown and changed since their first attempt (underlined by a conversation between Emma and her BBF toward the end, just in case you didn’t get it before ;)) and the epilogue leaves us feeling all kinds of happy feels. Exactly what I needed this week, thank you!

I also loved seeing Dylan’s siblings again–their dynamic is so much fun–and cannot wait until Gypsy gets her book! (And not just because there will be even more of baby Cooper in it than was in Dylan’s, honest…)

If you haven’t read Miranda’s book yet ( So Wright ), not a problem–Dylan’s would work fine as a standalone. Truly, though, I love these siblings–do yourself a favor and read the series!
