I think I’m really going to like this series! <3
Ethan and Marcie’s story really hit me in the feels. He started out as a guy who loved his siblings and parents, but one who also felt that he needed to devote everything he had to Blackburn Falls. He wasn’t a “relationship guy” and certainly didn’t plan on ever having a family of his own. Marcie, by contrast, had dreamed of having a family, but that dream blew up in her face when her cheating ex got his mistress pregnant. She’s since devoted herself to her job as an elementary school principal, barely even allowing herself to even think about dating after the first few disasters.
But then a troubled little girl brings them together, and OMG, I can’t even put into words how much I loved watching all three of them–Ethan, Marcie, and Sylvie–first come to trust each other and then come to love each other. As much as I’m looking forward to watching Kat and Gabe fall in love in book 2, I think I might even love seeing this trio be the best family they can be together even more <3
