Review:

Overall I liked this one–the premise was fun, the writing flowed nicely, and the HEA was sweet. Brie ad Alex are both likable characters, and even though it was perfectly obvious that the whole friends-with-scheduled-benefits thing wasn’t going to last long, it made for entertaining reading. Max’s grandmother was a hoot; that woman couldn’t have been on the page too much, IMHO. She always made me smile.

Some aspects of the book required a bit more than the usual suspension of belief, though–the drama at Brie’s work especially. I’m not an accountant by any stretch of the imagination (two college courses not withstanding) but it just didn’t seem like a terribly realistic situation, nor was it adequately explained in its resolution. Max’s reasons for staying away from Brie toward the end were more than a little ridiculous–get over your butt hurt self, dude, and try and see things from someone else’s perspective for a change–and his career shift felt a bit out of left field. The “Cheese” nickname was cute (Brie=cheese; get it?), but seriously overused and OMG should *not* be used in intimate situations. Took me right out of things, every time. Still, this was a fun way to spend a few hours.

The Dating Alternative is a cute friends-to-lovers story that is a bit predictable at times but a fun read nevertheless. It was my first from this author, but probably not my last.
