About The Book:
In The Girl Who Ignored Ghosts, prep school junior Kat Preston accidentally time travels to 1886 Connecticut, where she must share a body with a rebellious Victorian lady, prevent a gruesome wedding night murder, disprove a deadly family curse, and find a way back to her own time.
The Girl Who Ignored Ghosts kept me turning the pages, trying to figure out the 100+ year murder mystery along with the characters. Ms. Tansley did a nice job keeping the story moving along, and the atmosphere was appropriately creepy and tense.
I did get to feeling I needed a “cheat sheet”, though, to keep track of all the characters, past and present–especially once it was revealed that nearly every person on the Isle of Acacia in the present time was related to one or more of the people involved in the original mystery and that who they were related to would have a bearing on breaking the curse… That part of the story got to be a bit confusing as I tried to recall exactly what part each character played in the overall story arc. It didn’t detract from my enjoyment, though it did slow me down a bit. 🙂
This was definitely an interesting first novel in what looks to be an intriguing new series. I’ll be interested to see where Ms. Tansley is going with future books.

K.C. Tansley lives with her warrior lapdog, Emerson, on a hill somewhere in Connecticut. She tends to believe in the unbelievables—spells, ghosts, time travel—and writes about them.
Never one to say no to a road trip, she’s climbed the Great Wall twice, hopped on the Sound of Music tour in Salzburg, and danced the night away in the dunes of Cape Hatteras. She loves the ocean and hates the sun, which makes for interesting beach days. The Girl Who Ignored Ghosts is the first book in her YA time-travel murder mystery series.
As Kourtney Heintz, she also writes award winning cross-genre fiction for adults.
