Review: I am absolutely loving this series!
Gwen (the “okayest oracle) and Hugh’s (the demon) story is a fated mates, opposites attract, we-have-a-less-than-stellar-history-but-the-world’s-in-danger-and-we-must-save-it-together book. It’s chaotic (in the best way), is full of snark and banter, and features a whole lot of cheese and special use of various demon…talents. 😉 Both the world Ms Dade has created and the characters that inhabit it are a whole lot of fun!
Except for the bad guys. They’re not fun…but it is entertaining to see them get what’s coming to them in the end.
I loved Gwen, who really is the sweetest, most loyal person–and way more than just an “okay” oracle, even before her powers get a boost. (Loved what Hugh had to say about that, btw. But I’m not going to spoil it–read the book yourself!) I also adored Hugh, in all of his bougie, uptight, stuffy glory. He had his own demons (pun intended) and definitely needed a little outside help to assist him in getting over them. I’m going to need a whole lot more Gwen and Hugh time in future books–I was not at all ready to leave them behind when I closed the book!
World’s Okayest… picks up right after the previous book ( Zomromcom ) left off, and with all of the worldbuilding, continuing characters and relationships, various attempts at starting wars, etc. they really should be read in order. You should have plenty of time to finish them both before Thora and Kip’s book comes out next, though <3
