Review:
I really enjoyed No Weddings, the first book in the No Weddings series. It set itself apart from a lot of the books I’ve read lately in two significant ways:
1) It’s told entirely from Cade’s point of view. Totally fun! I do enjoy the current trend of dual POV in romance today, but single POVs done well stand out. I liked having to guess what was going on in the heroine’s mind for a change, and the male POV was an excellent choice as it really showed Cade transitioning from a womanizing man-‘ho to a one-woman man.
2) There’s no sex in the book. Seriously. There isn’t really any real relationship action until the end–it’s a slow and steady buildup, and it was still a lot of fun to read. Both Hannah and Cade have some major relationship drama in their pasts and serious hangups to get over, so the less-than-breakneck pace was absolutely believable. There’s more than enough sexual tension and chemistry to get readers through, and it was really refreshing not to have them jumping into bed together on page ten and then having to deal with chapters of awkwardness after.
My only complaint? Reading about all of Hannah’s gorgeous cakes made me hungry! Though it seems almost a sacrilege to cut into and eat such artistry… (Not that I’d turn down a piece, mind you. But still…)
I can’t wait to see where their relationship takes them next!
