Now the government is hunting down and incarcerating dragons to stop a public panic, and a new shape-shifting enemy has kidnapped the president’s son. Kitty and Bulisani are the last free dragons, wanted by both their allies and their enemies. If they can’t rescue the president’s son and liberate their fellow dragons before getting caught themselves, dragons might never live free again.
Review:
Kitty’s inner (and outer) snark added a lighthearted element to the action-adventure plot–I loved her voice! My copy has numerous highlighted areas that made me smile.
“I thought you were just typical teenagers.”
No one has ever called me typical. I can’t say I like it.
“I could hunt instead,” I say, in between shoving fries in my mouth, the salty, starchy goodness muffling my words.
“Hunt?” Dominic’s eyebrows twist in a combination of disgust and suspicion.
“Yeah, I hear there are a lot of cattle farms around here. That would be perfect.” I’m just messing with him; greasy burgers and fries are so much more delicious than swallowing a cow whole. Trust me on that one. But you do what you have to while staking out political refugees in rural Argentina.
The romance takes quite a while to get going, which is fine since they obviously have other things to take care of–an entire species has been outed and incarcerated, after all–but it was sweet and PG rated. This is definitely a book I’ll be passing down to my teenaged daughter.
The final pages of the book bring us to an ending but not the end–not everything is wrapped up, so hopefully we’ll be seeing Kitty and Sani again soon to set the rest of the world right!
