OMG, I must read the rest of this series ASAP!
ABOUT BLACK DAWN:
What happens when nothing is as it seems?
Lexi Dare is on a one-woman mission to stay alive. Both at home and at work. Because how did she end up with a ring on her finger and an abuser in bed as she readies to hit the high point in her career? Everything should be perfect. Amazing job. Handsome fiancé. It’s all a disaster.
Parker Black is the brains behind Titan Group, an elite security firm. In his world, everything is ordered and controlled, except what he feels for his buddy’s girl. Something in her eye screams for help, but he has no idea what.
When Lexi disappears, Parker realizes what he should have known. The lines blur between friendships and work, and they must find each other to survive a terror attack that only Lexi can stop.
Black Dawn can be read as a standalone and does not have a cliffhanger.
Review:
His arms had surrounded her with a manly scent tinged with the smell of outdoors and gunpowder, like some superhero aphrodisiac.
Seriously, Cristin Harber had me at “superhero aphrodisiac.”
But then she sealed the deal with
Nothing said life on the run like dessert for breakfast.
Clearly, we are kindred spirits. 😉
(And heck, why didn’t I think of the orange sherbet/hot fudge sauce combo myself? Genius!)
Black Dawn, the 6th full-length book in the Titan series, was the first one I’ve read (and really did work fine as a standalone), but it definitely won’t be my last–thank goodness the series is available on audio, because otherwise I’d have to wait for five open slots in my reading schedule, and I’m pretty sure I don’t have that much patience.
Black Dawn is a sexy, fun, and suspenseful read–if I could have read it in a single sitting, I absolutely would have. (Darn you, real world! Always messing up my reading plans…) I loved Lexi and Parker, two computer nerds who were clearly made for each other, even though they are pretty much on opposite sides of the fence–a hacker and a tech guy for a security firm that works with law enforcement and the military.
In spite of–or because of?–their differences, they’re a great couple–worlds better than the toxic relationship Lexi finds herself in at the beginning of the book. Parker and Lexi actually knew each other in real life for a couple of years–as well as virtually for even longer–which made what might have otherwise seemed like insta-love a whole lot more believable. Parker not only gives Lexi a security she’s never known before, he also shares with her the only family either one of them has ever known–the close-knit Titan group.
Just the glimpses we get of the rest of the team members in this book have me so ready to take on their books ASAP.
The only part that gave me pause was the Monarch program, the fictional social media website that is geared toward military families. No way would they be able to share all of the information online that the book claims they’re sharing on it. So not going to happen…though the idea of it being possible certainly did an excellent job of amping up the gravity of their situation, that’s for certain. (And do people who come up with fixes for security problems in sites like that one really auction them off to the highest bidder when/if the original sites’ creators refuse to spend the money to buy them? Because if so–holy scary stuff, Batman. Seriously, that just can’t be right.)
On the whole, though–such a fun read. I can’t wait to back up and read the rest of this series.
Did I mention it’s gonna be soon? 😉
