The Trouble with Mistletoe
by Jill Shalvis

If she has her way …

Willa Davis is wrangling puppies when Keane Winters stalks into her pet shop with frustration in his chocolate-brown eyes and a pink bedazzled cat carrier in his hand. He needs a kitty sitter, stat. But the last thing Willa needs is to rescue a guy who doesn’t even remember her …

He’ll get nothing but coal in his stocking.

Saddled with his great-aunt’s Feline from Hell, Keane is desperate to leave her in someone else’s capable hands. But in spite of the fact that he’s sure he’s never seen the drop-dead-gorgeous pet shop owner before, she seems to be mad at him …

Unless he tempers “naughty” with a special kind of nice …

Willa can’t deny that Keane’s changed since high school: he’s less arrogant, for one thing—but can she trust him not to break her heart again? It’s time to throw a coin in the fountain, make a Christmas wish—and let the mistletoe do its work …

Review:

Loved.

I’m a huge Jill Shalvis fan–I love her sense of humor, fear of spiders, and appreciation for hot alphas. Her writing never fails to crack me up and give me all the feels, all at the same time. I wanted to move to Lucky Harbor…except the longer the series went on, the more same-old, same-old the stories started to feel (and to be honest, the oogling old ladies were seriously starting to creep me out). So I took a little break.

But then she started a new series. (Cedar Ridge) and then another new one (Heartbreaker Bay), and I thought, maybe it’s time.

Yeah. So I’m 2/3 of the way through the audiobook of Second Chance Summer–the only reason I’m not almost done right now is that one of the Minis borrowed my iPod headphones last weekend and aren’t ‘fessing up to it, and the darn thing has no external speaker–ugh, kids–and then I got my eager little hands on an ARC copy of this this one.

Loved. Did I already say that?

The Trouble with Mistletoe has everything I’ve come to love in a Jill Shalvis book–great dialogue, fantastic friendships, and OMG off-the-charts steamy yet fun sexytimes. There’s a hot alpha who likes to build things with his hands (my personal catnip) and a lovable heroine who’s got a thing for strays of all species. There’s a wayward feline who’s anything but a model cat (and LOL when Keane admits she’s sleeping on his pillow and to Willa’s “I thought she wasn’t allowed,” he answers, “She’s not. But apparently she’s the ruler and I’m just her b*tch.” True dat.)

Plus, it takes place at Christmastime. And Willa’s got a truly awesome wardrobe of clothes with fantastic sayings on them–from aprons to t-shirts to sweaters to a Marauder’s Map-inspired two piece set that if anyone needs a great gift idea for me, that’s it–that never failed to bring a smile to my face.

And did I mention Keane? Yes? 😉

I’m backing up ASAP and getting my hands on Pru and Finn’s book (Sweet Little Lies) and will be anxiously awaiting Elle and Archer’s (Accidentally on Purpose–because OMG, that teaser chapter at the end!) and don’t even get me started on how ridiculously excited I was to see that there’s going to be a snow-themed novella out soon for Rory and Max (One Snowy Night)…

Because, yeah. Back to Jill Shalvis-themed book binging.

Bring.

Them.

On!
