New Release Review! HARD COMPROMISE by Samanthe Beck (Compromise Me #2)

In case you missed it, I had a chat with author Samanthe Beck about her latest book here.

Hard Compromise

by Samanthe Beck

Synopsis:

Laurie Peterson assumes her impulsive one-night stand with sinfully sexy Sheriff Ethan Booker is the biggest surprise of the year…until her bakery burns down while she’s basking in the afterglow. It looks like her dreams are up in smoke, but then Ethan proposes a deal too tempting to resist.

Ethan has no intention of settling for a one-night stand with Laurie. Nor does he want anything to do with the women his wealthy family wants him to meet. Not when he’s waited ten years for his chance to make his move. His deal might have strings—and Laurie may not know the stakes—but nothing will stop this sexy cop from staking a real claim on her body and her heart.

Review:

So, so good!

I loved Booker, and Laurie’s not too bad either. 😉 Together, they’re absolutely awesome!

Everyone but Laurie knew from the get-go that this fake relationship was going to turn into the real thing, but watching her come to that conclusion was a lot of fun. Hot, steamy, awkward-meeting-his-mother kinds of fun. Ms. Beck definitely did not disappoint with this one–I found myself laughing almost as much as I needed to fan myself while reading this one.

The whole I’ll-wait-ten-years-for-you-to-grow-up thing was kind of random–I appreciated the prologue, don’t get me wrong; it did a great job of setting these two up for a future when she wasn’t literal “jailbait”–but why exactly ten years? Sure, she ended up being in a much better place at 26 than she was at 16, but technically anytime after she turned 21 would have been acceptable. He wasn’t that much older than her. (Plus, it kind of reminded me of another dating-you-in-ten-years comment, and though the situations are totally different, who needs that reminder?) Still, the way Booker got them started was cute. Poor Aaron and his Am Ex card.

Hard Compromise takes place concurrently with book one in the series, Compromising Her Position , so it doesn’t really matter which one you read first–they both could work as standalones, but trust me, you’re going to want the whole story so you might as well grab them both.

As well as book three–surely we’re going to get Arden’s (Rafe’s sister) story soon, yes?
