Review:

Another winner!

I love each story in the From Kenya…with Love series–not only do the characters feel like old friends (a feat that they manage even if you haven’t read all–or any–of the other series books) but the setting is absolutely amazing. Even though I’ve never been to Kenya, I almost feel as if I have once I finish one of these books. The Marine’s Return is no exception to this rule!

I really enjoyed Chad and Lexi’s story. It’s a solid blend of relationship drama (past and present romantic relationships, as well as family ones) and situational. It’s not quite a romantic suspense book, but there is a healthy dollop of possibly dangerous drama here to keep the characters–and the readers!–on their toes. Ms. Sinara did a great job of showcasing how torn both Lexi and Chad were about their relationship, since she’s still grieving her husband’s unexpected passing and he–her husband’s best friend–not only feels survivor guilt but hasn’t yet come to terms with the reality of his own life-changing injuries suffered in the line of duty. It’s just the right amount of angsty drama without going overboard.

Plus a baby. And all of the wonderful secondary characters, who lovingly get themselves all up in Lexi and Chad’s business. And did I mention that fabulous setting? 😉

The epilogue, which I loved, almost makes it seem as if this might be the last book in the series. Fingers crossed that it isn’t, however–how else will I get my Kenya fix?

  2. Thank you for hosting and for the wonderful review. And I’m so glad you enjoyed the book! Alas, it is indeed the final book of the series. It will always hold a special place in my heart. I hope readers will continue to enjoy the series (and the romantic escape to Africa ;). Thanks again!

  3. Darn! I was afraid you’d say that, with how it ended. Oh, well–it was still a wonderful trip! Thanks so much for stopping by 🙂
