It started as a dare
A laugh, a drunken challenge to me , captain of the guys’ hockey team, to kiss him , captain of the swim team.
It became the answer
It was a question I didn’t even realize I’d been asking.
It became everything
He became everything. My beating heart. My every thought. What I held more precious than a future I’d been sacrificing for as long as I could remember.
And then it ended
We ended. Without another soul ever discovering we existed to begin with.
I was never supposed to come back
But four years and a Slayers Hockey contract later, here I am…
Wondering if I dare to risk it all again.
Review:
This was a sweet second chance romance–my biggest complaint is that I wanted more of it!
Trevor and Cam ran in different circles in their small town high school, though they were both captains of their individual sports teams. They got along, but didn’t really hang out–until they did. Circumstances tore them apart (including but not limited to the fact that they both were in the closet at the time) and when Trev comes back to town during the off season, there’s a bit of will-they-or-won’t-they until they do.
Then it turns into how-will-they-make-it-last-this-time…
Fingers crossed that Trev gets picked up full time by the Slayers (he’s on their farm team now, but has played a few NHL games for them) because I wouldn’t hate seeing more of these two!
