Bidding for the Bachelor cover

Meet Cedric Fong in this m/m romance…

I don’t need a date. I need to focus on finding a new apartment and finally writing another novel.

But as the last single Fong brother, I’m expected to participate in a bachelor auction to benefit my family’s charity. When there’s a frenzied bidding war, Brian Poon, my younger brother’s ex-best friend, puts an end to the chaos by bidding an eyewatering amount for a Valentine’s date with me.

Brian used to be a notorious partier, but his life isn’t as wild now that his father has cut him off. We have a good time eating and drinking together, and when he finds out about my apartment situation, he offers me his spare room.

Once I move in, Brian surprises me by baking me cookies and making it his mission to get me writing again. Soon, I’m working on a new book and getting closer to my roommate, a man who has never had a relationship and is all about casual sex—the opposite of me.

He also used to be in love with my brother. I wonder if he still is…

Review:

OMG, this book!

I loved Cedric and Brian’s story! It’s an absolutely adorable acquaintances-to-roommates-to-friends-to-lovers story (that’s a thing, right?) with the added fun of all getting started because of a bachelor auction, a good deed, and 200 homemade dumplings.

Which reminds me–DO NOT read Jackie Lau books while hungry. Or when you might get into trouble for laughing out loud. Seriously, if I tried to read one while living in the universe of A Quiet Place movies, I’d be dead before I got through the first chapter. Emily Blunt’s character might be able to almost silently give birth, but me not LOL during a Jackie Lau book? Not. Gonna. Happen.

But I digress.

Cedric and Brian’s story is just so warm and fuzzy and feel good and HOT that I’m not even sure I can do it justice here, but I’ll try. Their gradual slide into a relationship was so much fun to read, and I loved that even though Cedric was a really social guy who knows people everywhere he goes, Brian is the first person to really “see” him. Cedric’s entire family was so much fun–OMG his grandmother? Caused fully 50% of my LOLing while reading–and Brian’s found family is just as awesome. I’d read a whole book from five-year-old Ginny’s POV if Jackie Lau wrote it, even if–nay, especially if–it was full of baby goat pictures. Their love story is a delightful and comforting slide into wonderfulness, and as much as I wanted the two of them to get to their HEA, I didn’t want the book to end.

In short: Read. It. Now. You won’t be sorry.

Cedric is Vince’s brother from Pregnant by the Playboy , and Brian is Vince’s former BFF/fellow party playboy, but you could totally read this as a standalone. BUT WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO YOURSELF? Read. Them. All!

And now I really have to go back and read her Kwan Sisters series books. Quick, before she writes something new again… 😉
