New Release Review! LOVING DEEP by Tracey Devlin (Steele Ridge #4)

Synopsis:

A rugged mountain man falls for his beautiful neighbor, the one person who can save his beloved red wolves and whose business depends on their destruction.

Britt Steele is on a mission to protect endangered red wolves in the mountains of North Carolina. But when the wolves’ territory is threatened, he clashes with the new landowner, a woman who’s capturing his heart even as she plans to sell that precious land to the highest bidder.

Miranda Shepherd’s quirky bar is her passion, but money’s flowing out faster than she can pour a drink. An outsider’s bid to purchase the land she’s long called home will save her business. Only one man stands in Randi’s way—a dangerously handsome and persuasive man who poses equally dangerous questions that rock her whole world.

An unscrupulous trophy hunter wants the game-rich property and he’ll stop at nothing to get his hands on the wolves’ haven and another trophy for his collection. When members of the pack begin disappearing, Britt and Randi must join forces to protect the wolves and save the love of a lifetime.

Review:

Loving Deep by Tracey Devlyn is the forth in the Steele Ridge, but the first one I’ve read (so far! THIS WILL CHANGE.) It worked fine as a standalone; two of Britt’s younger brothers’ stories were alluded to, but it wasn’t to the point that I felt like I was missing crucial information by not having read them first.

(Of course there’s just enough told about them, and they’re a big enough part of Britt’s story by the end, that I must read them soon, but that’s a whole other thing!)

I thoroughly enjoyed Britt and Randi’s story, even though I had to keep reminding myself that “Britt” was the guy. (Was that his full name? Did I miss what it was short for if it wasn’t? My brain just kept wanting to make him into a “Brittany”, and let me tell you, he’s not at all a Brittany kind of guy… At. All.)

Strange names aside, though, I had a lot of fun reading this one. The saving-an-endangered-species angle gave this story a new twist, and watching the brothers–and sister, and girlfriends, and even Mom Steele–come together for the big cause at the end was a real blast. I am absolutely picking up the rest of the series, and can’t wait until the second round of books are released!
