Review:
I haven’t read the first two books in the series–yet!–but it didn’t matter a bit going in to this one. Sure, Benny’s siblings play a prominent role throughout–what a fun family dynamic!–but though I added their books ( Her Backup Boyfriend and Her Accidental Husband ) to my TBR ASAP, I didn’t feel at all at a loss because I hadn’t read them already.
And now I’ve got those two to keep me distracted until Daisy’s book comes out 🙂
Benny and Henry were a great couple–a wonderful example of the Eliza Dolittle/Henry Higgins type of romance. I loved that even though of course nothing happened between the two of them before Henry started her makeover (they were firmly in the antagonistic camp before that), he very definitely realized long before the book’s end that she needed to be appreciated for who she was all along, not just the “new” Benny she’d become. He was adamant about it, both in his head and out loud, and it just endeared him to me even more.
Plus, he’s an awesome uncle. And appreciates Property Brothers. And her dinosaur foot slippers. Obviously, Benny needs to hold on to that one. 😉
I loved that the two of them went from enemies to friends and then started to look at each other in a new light. It felt very natural and right. And did I mention adorable?
Benny is a fun heroine, and very easy to identify with. It just about broke my heart to see her try to be someone different for her doctor crush–Just tell him you don’t like sushi, already!was running on repeat in my brain at one point–and the fact that she went so far down that path just underscored how much better Henry was for her. I loved that she was the one to take the plunge first, even if Henry had his head too far up his butt at the time to appreciate her effort.
Fortunately, he does a good grovel.
Backing up to read books one and two now, and anxiously awaiting number four….
