Ambitious intern Ashton Bailey is about to get closer to her dream of being a sports announcer. All she has to do is prove that too-perfect-to-be-true NFL quarterback Evan Dawson isn’t quite as wholesome as his contract requires. So much fun!
I always forget how much I like Sariah Wilson‘s books when I’m not reading them–OMG, she really knows how to write! This one had me swooning almost as much as it did snickering, and clutching at my chest in despair more than once.
Ashton and Evan’s story was simply wonderful. I loved that he was her unrequited love from high school–they’d been friends, but he actually ran with her older sister’s crowd and was five years older–and that he wasn’t really as evil as she’d been thinking he was for ten years. (I knew he wasn’t! But for the story’s sake I was glad she hadn’t listened to him when he’d tried to explain before. Because, the story was so good. I don’t know if I mentioned that before. Plus, I *may* have been known to hold a grudge or two in my time as well, so I totally got her motivation there.)
It was pretty clear from the start that Ashton’s hatred of Evan wasn’t going to last–I mean, seriously, the guy was amazing. And clearly absolutely gone on Ashton. But she messes up big time–and even while I was despairing at what she was doing, I still absolutely got why she was doing it–and (eventually, after a kick in the pants from all the women in her family–who oh my God I loved them all so much) tries to make things right again, and OMG. I just don’t have words for what happens next. You. Must. Read. This. One.
Did I mention it was SO GOOD?
