JUNK MAIL
By Kendall Ryan
Release Day: April 23

It all started with a sexy selfie.

Texted to the wrong number.

Oops.

Not my finest moment—but I have nothing to be ashamed of.

She thought I was no better, and I quote, than the knuckle-dragging douche-bags she was never dating again.

It was a stupid dare from a girl I’d met online, but since she’d given me a fake number, I didn’t feel bad that my interests were suddenly focused elsewhere—on the fiery and sharp-tongued, Peyton that I found myself sparring with over text for the rest of the evening.

The following day, my case of mistaken identity came back to bite me in the banana.

When I strolled into the office, I was introduced to Peyton as the new client I needed to win over. The Peyton , in case you’re not tracking.

And let’s just say she had my full attention.

Brains? Check.

Beauty? Oh yeah.

And the best part? She hated me on sight.

Dear God, do I love a challenge.

Let the games begin.

Review:

Such a fun read!

I absolutely loved the premise of this one–knowing what it was, the title made my inner fourteen-year-old giggle inappropriately every time I read it. Of course the fake number Josh was given happened to be for the cell number of the woman he had a business meeting with the next day–who else’s would it have been? (Though, really–when a woman on a dating app gives you her cell phone #, is she really asking for a dick pic? That seems like skipping a few dozen steps. I freely admit that could just be my rather naive opinion, though, never having used one.)

I enjoyed Peyton and Josh’s growing (pun intended) relationship, and all of the backsliding they did on their quest to keep it “professional” (spoiler alert–they had quite a bit of trouble in that area). I absolutely adored Peyton’s Gram–OMG, that woman was a hoot! There were many, many LOL moments throughout, and almost as many swoon-worthy ones–such a fun read!

The only part of the book that had me shaking my head in frustration was the whole black moment (more like black week and a half) portion. I really don’t get what Josh was thinking there–would a quick heads-up text/email/phone call about why he was acting that way have been too much to ask? It sure as heck would have been a lot more “professional” than what actually happened. Sure, he made up for it–eventually–and there’s an adorably satisfying HEA at the end–but it just seemed he was unbelievably obtuse for a larger percentage of the book than was absolutely necessary. I guess it had to counterbalance all of the cute sexiness that cam before it, but…

Gah. I just wanted to smack him upside the head for a good chunk of time there.

Still, this was a super fun read, and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Ryan has for us next 🙂

Rating: 4 stars / B+
